The only way for Obama to win is to prove that he has not betrayed the Revolution. He needs to wear dark sun glasses, ride a motorcycle, and start shouting The Man down. He needs to become more of a threatening figure. I demand he wear a "Free Willie Horton" t-shirt.

4. What is so surprising? Obama is not a Liberal. He is another right of center Democratic Centralist |
|
Obama is a Liberal only in the eyes of rightwingnutz.
This country is so far the the right politically that the real center in out of sight over the horizon somewhere. Most of us have no clue where "Center" really is.

7. uh, do you realize how Roosevelt ran? That's right, as a centrist. |
|
I actually think, based on his past and his writing, that Obama's more progressive than many think. We'll see.

10. Wait...if the ENTIRE country is to the right, wouldn't the CENTER be to the right, too? |
|
This IS a Democracy. If the entire country is trending right, then the 'center' will trend right also. And it makes sense that the person who would best represent the majority of people would trend a little right. We may not like it, but it makes sense.

Dennis Kucinich, Paul Wellstone(Murdered?), Barney Frank, Barbara Boxer, Edward Kennedy. To name a few.
How does Obama stack up with these Liberals?
This country has been inhaling the fumes from the kool-aid for so long, we think anyone to the left of Mr. Hun is a liberal. Bill Clinton was billed as a liberal also. Actually he is a Southern Democrat, which means he is in reality a centralist Republican. Hillary Clinton is also billed as a liberal and her views are noticeably to the right of Bill's, as would be fitting of a 'Goldwater Girl'.
Obama is a centralist with some liberal views. His saving grace is I believe Obama is honest, or at least more honest than most politicians. A real liberal would be talking about putting the perpetrators in prison for the frauds they visited on Wall Street. He would also be for helping the victims of the housing bubble. Obama has said very little to nothing. He voted for bailing out the fat cats on Wall Street.

Yes, Virginia, FlyingSquirrel was being snarky!
How dare Obama work to win the election by being responsive to the electorate!

11. He's been in the center since he reached the U.S. Senate. |

Hence my long-standing criticism, my long-standing disappointment, and my long-standing reservations.
I don't like centrists. Simple.
I don't like McCain even more. I oppose Palin most of all.
What's your point?
Oh. His vote for the bail-out? You know, I never had to hear him speak about the bailout to know that he would vote for it. There's no surprise.
Also no surprise that I stand with those rare 9 Democrats, and 1 independent, who voted "NO."
I didn't jump on DU, or anywhere else, to criticize Obama. He performed as expected, disappointingly. The only reason I mention it at all is that you brought it up.
So what IS your point?

I'm giving him this one because I want him to win. The whole thing is going to come crashing down by the 3rd quarter of '09 anyway. By then people will realize what a huge mistake this was, and Obama will be in a position to do something about it.

|
Once elected, he was anything but.
