I'm watching Hanity here (yeah, I know) and they got Devine on as a senior campaign advisor. So Hanity starts going off about how Kerry voted against all these weapons systems. And rather than just hit back hard, pointing out that that was basically one single vote bound up with a bunch of other riders, he went after Cheny! When they lie and distort, it doesn't do us any good to respond with a counter attack or a "nuanced" explanation. Just take the damned gloves off already and say NO that's a lie. What the Hell is happening with our campaign?

2. I didn't see it, but pointing out that Cheney opposed the same weapons... |
|
is exactly the right tactic.

I'm sorry, but I couldn't disagree more. All that it looks like is hiding behind a counter-punch. We can use the same tacitc that Miller used: Dick Cheny is anti troop cause he voted against weapons systems.
But we just lose ground when we don't step up and say "No, that's a lie." Then when Hanity says "but it's technically true" we say, "it's a distortion. Kerry voted against X,Y,Z which was in that bill as well as the weapons systems. he later did..." The important thing is to call them out on a lie, not just look like we're avoiding the substance of the allegation.

12. You're splitting hairs here. |
|
We have to point out the hypocrisy of the republicans, attacking Kerry for the exact same things they themselves have done.

So you're saying we just take the punch? just let the lie fly past?
I'm sorry, I want more ammo for this argument. Does anyone have a link or know why Kerry voted against the bill?

...yeah, i know. I'm disagreeing with tactics here, the overall way in which we're going at the Fox "news" outlet. I know they lie and distort. I just woke up this morning listening to Franken explaining point by point how Kerry actually supported the weapons systems (in the aggragate) and so I just wanted to here Devine say that. Meet them head on instead of laterally.
Look, Cheny is scum and we all know it. But the undecided want to hear more than just how bad the GOP is, they want to also know Kerry is good. So just say it.

Like the Cheney angle on these points.
How did "baby jesus" Hannity cope?

fodder for the freak. he rolled his eyes and oozed an "oh, you're just dodging the substance" line.
Look, I know that in the long run hitting Cheney hard is the right way to go. But throwing up a quick block and refuting the bogus lie needs to be done.

that accusation. But hell, I can't remember what it was. :-( My mind is getting weary of all these lies and accusations and counter attacks or lack there of.

Voters aren't going to care whether this was one or a bunch of votes. They WILL care that Cheney did just what they accuse Kerry of doing.

Attempting to get across to people how bills and legislation are bundled and passed and debated is pure zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz to the average Joe. Pointing out plainly and simply that they are hypocrites for criticizing him for doing somethin when Cheney did the exact same thing is simple and to the point.

7. Here's the problem with Tad Devine |
|
He leers. He leers and grins inappropriately. He may be a great strategist, but he SUCKS on camera and he should be BEHIND the scenes and they should have EFFECTIVE, TELEGENIC people on camera hitting Kerry's points home.
Sorry, Tad, but being on camera is not your strength, and you do great damage when you're on.
Send out Bob Beckel, send out Shrum, send out articulate, tv savvy individuals, but STOP SENDING OUT TAD DEVINE.

upper lip. His eyes bulge at the same time. The guy usually represents us well, but is not telegenic.

them drop the argument is to show that was what Cheney suggested cutting as Sec of Defense.
They need to say it over and over again. No problem.
