Is it good or bad that OJ Simpson will dominate the news cycle for a couple days?
One hand, Obama is in a very good position right now, poll-wise, and this may not give the McCain campaign much of an opening to unleash ugly new attacks for a little while...

But on the other hand, the McCain folks are at their WORST when they're spontaneous--this may give them a couple days breathing space to actually plan something out, although the Obama campaign will obviously be making the same preparations...

And then finally, we all remember that a decade ago, OJ Simpson was a racially polarizing figure in America. Now? Probably not so much. But it's hard to predict what reaction some people will have when it comes to this stuff, especially those who are already deeply prejudiced. I sure hope someone from McCain's side takes this opportunity to say something really stupid...

Your thoughts?

3. Siddown, chill, and Watch Barack use the case as an opportunity
to solidify himself a little further as a non-scary, rational human being.

My response at times like this is to sit back & watch the Master. He will come out of this 2 points further ahead in the polls. Betcha.

5. Anybody that takes a look at OJ and thinks of Obama is a
bigot idiot anyway and wasn't going to vote for Obama in the first place.

6. Good because it drowns out any more talk about Palin's debate performance
Like someone else said, I don't think the verdict will take up that much news time, but at least for the weekend.

McCain is the candidate in dire need of some media attention right now (much more so than Obama, who is sailing in polls) so it hurts Palin's chances of doing more interviews, etc.

9. At This Point, Sir
Anything that takes up news time that is not political works against McCain. He needs attention, and must flail to get it. The trend is set against him, and in favor of Sen. Obama. Less attention to the campaign simply continues the trend-line. Whatever is on the news, people will be paying attention to their real-life difficulties and worries, which they blame mostly on Republicans....

11. I think this had much more novelty when it originally happened
OJ's armed robbery seemed to confirm the suspicions that many had had about him and the gossip was pretty much exhausted at the time. I remember the consenus being that he would probably would be found guilty. He has been, there'll be a few 'I told you so's' but not much more. Certainly nothing to the extent of what happened before - thank gods. IMHO, of course.

12. This conviction as unfortunate as it might be on OJ....is
good for Obama. Hell, if OJ would have been found not guilty, that would have been more of a issue....and yes, even for Obama....possibly. Nevada is a state we want to win. Now, I believe that we will win it.

But yes, we shouldn't pay attention to OJ. That way, the Media can't use it as an excuse to distract us. We don't want to be distracted just now.

So it's all good.

Except for OJ, of course.

13. All I have to say is, SNL!!!
I realize what OJ Simpson did but there will be no parallel unless some idiot does it on Fox News and at that point there will be rioting of Fox News for certain and they will have to state a public apology.

On another note, I think it will hurt McCain deeply. Why? Because any positivities given to Palin will be shot down since she's turned into a comedy figure on Saturday and all of Couric's interviews dominate. The fact she didn't answer a SINGLE question at the debate followed by all the past interviews and SNL coming up in a few hours. She's going to turn into a buffon. It will make it glaringly obvious she had no clue and didn't answer the question especially if split-screen parodies are done.

At that point, her rating will start decreasing again. She will did nothing for her base already and didn't move the dial once, it actually decreased in many polls. Lastly because McCain would lose that good publicity for her and for himself; you'll see and by Monday the McCain camp will lose even more ground.

He will have to base his entire camp on no gaffes---which is impossible and he'd have to hope he throws it out of the park on Tuesday. Brokaw is really my only concern holding back Obama.
