Tom Brokaw is John McCain’s Pimp
John McCain values women for what they can give him----money and status. He selected Sarah Palin, because she is an ex-beauty queen, and in the process, he alienated legions of Hillary Clinton supporters who have no tolerance for those who promote women based on looks rather than merit. He dumped his first wife, an ex-beauty queen, when a tragic car wreck stripped her of her looks, height and health. He offered his second wife, beer distributor heiress and ex-rodeo queen up as a competitor in a topless biker beauty pageant (“Miss Buffalo Chip”) in Sturgis SD recently, because her sex appeal is proof of his virility---and sex is a valuable commodity this election season. The winner may be determined by which candidate manages to generate the biggest thrill up Chris Matthew's thigh---or in the penile tumescence detectors they use at CNN to gauge audience response (they are more scientific over there).

And that is why John McCain has a pimp .

I. “I Didn’t Call Him John. I Called Him Senator. “

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23035476/

February 5, 2008, Super Tuesday and the day before Tom Brokaw’s birthday. The Democrats are torn between two candidates either of whom would make a fine president Meanwhile, the Republicans are being asked to hold their noses and cast a vote for one of three major candidates who are all deeply flawed. As Joe Scarborough and Pat Buchanan discuss, only Huck excites the base, and he is general election death. Huck is peeling off votes that might go to the compromise candidate, Romney. Conservatives can not stand the so called “maverick”, McCain, and Joe and Pat seem to agree with them. They laugh at McCain’s wins, reminding viewers that he cleans up in states that the Dems will carry in the fall.

Enter Tom Brokaw the Pimp to begin marketing his man.

BROKAW: I was looking at Rush Limbaugh’s Web site today, and he has a picture of John McCain surrounded by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Rudy Giuliani, and the caption says, “It’s pretty plain that John McCain likes to surround himself with liberals.” now, I don’t think either Rudy Giuliani or Arnold Schwarzenegger will be invited to be a groomsmen at the Jane Fonda wedding. I don’t think they’re going to fit into that category. So, you know, we’ve seldom seen the Republican Party, as I’ve been saying this evening, in such disarray, if you will, in terms of trying to settle on who they want as their candidate, and this will go on.

Snip

Look, Rush Limbaugh is an American original. He’s been an important voice for the conservatives in this country. But at the same time, and this will come as a surprise to Rush, I know, I have a lot of conservative friends that I’ve grown up with over the years. Any number of them have called me in the course of the last six months or so and said, the system is broken. It’s time for a change. We’ve got to do something different.

BROKAW: I will tell you, Keith and Chris, it’s remarkable. He’s 71 years old, he started the morning here on the “Today” show in New York, and look at him, he’s still going strong.

BROKAW: When I said to him this morning, when I saw him on the “Today” show, I kind of laugh and said John, you really are a warrior. I didn’t call him, John. I called him senator.

II. In Fairness to No One

BROKAW: In fairness to everybody here, I’m just going to end on one note and that is that we continue to poll on who is best equipped to be Commander in Chief, John McCain continues to lead in that category, despite the criticism from Barack Obama by a factor of 53 to 42 percent in our latest NBC/WSJ poll.

http://www.crooksandliars.com/2008/09/28/meet-the-press-brokaws-fairness-facts-pulled-out-of-thin-air-to-make-mccain-look-better/

Younger Americans do not know that Tom Brokaw got his start on The Today Show many decades ago, playing the dim witted foil to uber-sharp Jane Pauley. Calling Brokaw “dim” does a disservice to 40 watt light bulbs. He was notorious for his inane remarks. You could see his co-host cringe whenever he would utter some particularly dense comment.

His career did not really take off until he landed the less challenging job of reading the news off a teleprompter. (Think William Hurt’s character in Broadcast News ).

So, when he pulled the statistic above out of his ass, maybe he got confused. Maybe he was angry. David Axelrod has that affect on people. Obama’s campaign manager had just demonstrated how Obama was right about Iraq and Afghanistan and McCain was wrong.

III. Talking Points For January 29, John McCain is “Authentic” and “A Warrior”

There was a pattern to MSNBC’s Florida primary coverage. Whenever Tom Brokaw appeared on camera, he attempted to promote his product, John McCain, using the advertising campaign “McCain is an authentic warrior”

BROKAW: We’ve been talking repeatedly here and on other nights about how John McCain has demonstrated what a tough warrior he is. He’s not the perfect conservative in the eyes of a lot of people, but they find him authentic

later

BROKAW: Based on what I’m hearing Keith, I think that there are going to be some Republicans who will pony up for John McCain. There’s beginning to be a kind of a rallying around him, if you will across the country. A very prominent business leader who is an early Romney supporter I talked to on Saturday and he said I was very unhappy with Romney when he went out to Detroit and promised that he would bring those jobs back. He was simply pandering to them…(McCain) is a child of the west, in his political life, at least. And California probably will like his kind of authentic (INAUDIBLE) campaigning and certainly his back story as a war hero and as a prisoner of war for a long time. So we are setting the stage here for an epic battle.

IV. Pimp-stravaganza, Or Tom Brokaw Declares John McCain the Winner of the GOP Presidential Primary on the Night of the Iowa Caucuses

A good pimp really loves his studs and ladies. I mean really loves them. It doesn’t matter if the buyers (in this case, America’s Republican voters) are not attracted to the merchandise he represents. A hard working procurer will shove that member of Congress down America’s throat whether they like it or not.

Did you think that Mike Huckabee won the Iowa Caucuses on the Republican side? You must not have been watching the MSNBC election night coverage.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22505399

BROKAW: This is good news for John McCain in New Hampshire, who can now go head-to-head against Mitt Romney and call him damaged goods.
Snip
BROKAW: It seems to me, Chris, that if you’re handicapping all of this, this is very good news for John McCain, because it put a big hole in the expectations and hopes of Mitt Romney in Iowa. And now we’ve got just five days to go in New Hampshire. That’s where the race starts fresh tomorrow morning.

Subtext: The vote doesn't count until the Republicans get it right. And send money to the McCain campaign. Please. . What about John Edward’s surprise second place finish in Iowa? John who?

If you want more analysis of GE/NBC’s machinations in crowning McCain, here is a link to a journal I wrote about the matter. Old history from last winter. If we get stuck with McSame and Caribou Barbie, blame the company that wants a nuke in your backyard.

V. “The Brokaw Code”

http://blog.indecision2008.com/2008/08/28/tom-brokaw-officially-sanctions-john-mccain-powing-himself-out-of-any-all-criticism/

Courtesy of Comedy Central. Watch Tom Brokaw declare John McCain a finer man than Bill Clinton, because John McCain bombed civilians in North Vietnam before spending five years as a POW, because the North Vietnamese were angry that he had bombed their women and children. Clinton, on the other hand, objected to the war and its escalating death toll. To Brokaw, this means that McCain can never be criticized by Bill Clinton for anything.

What did Tom Brokaw do to make this country safe from North Vietnamese women and children? Wow! Look who had no military service!

VI. Inside Tom Brokaw’s Mind

http://www.tnr.com/politics/story.html?id=00494609-dba9-43d0-ad19-c9ab3bbcc210

Why is Tom Brokaw pimping the faux maverick John McCain? Maybe this article from last year will help.

But to Brokaw, it is about the dirty college kids--because to his dad, it was about the dirty college kids. "My working-class dad, a longtime FDR Democrat who was opposed to the war in Vietnam.... was enraged by what he had seen on television , enraged by the behavior of the antiwar demonstrators, the way they had flown the Vietcong flag, and taunted the police. I knew then, the Democratic Party was in real trouble."

They disrespected his dad. Well no wonder! So, he is going to make up for the slight shown to military men and policemen and a whole generation of real men in the 60s and 70s by a bunch of ungrateful spoiled rotten kids who objected to being sent off to kill innocent women and children in a senseless war before being sent back home in body bags.

Funny, I was nine in 1968. I recall a very different year. Maybe it was because my mother was a graduate student at UT in Austin. Our family friends lived in terror of losing their student deferments. Escape to Canada was something that real people really did in my world. I listened while people I knew talked about how badly you would have to mutilate yourself to get out of the draft. My family was FDR New Deal Democrat, too, but I compared the atrocities being committed in Vietnam to those which had been committed just a few years before in Alabama where I had lived, children sprayed with fire hoses, attacked with dogs, bombed, and to me Vietnam was just more of the same.

And I wonder, would Tom Brokaw's FDR supporting, New Deal Democrat father really approve if he saw his son pimping faux maverick, friend of the corporate lobbyists, former Keating 5 Arizona Senator who never did manage to fill Sen. Barry Goldwater's shoes though he has tried to ride his coat tails all these years.

That's a sure mark of a maverick, someone who isn't ashamed to grab a piece of someone else's glory and claim it for his own.

According to the New York Times, the John McCain campaign would not agree to allow NBC to moderate a debate, until Tom Brokaw was named. Brokaw will be in charge of a townhall type event in Nashville next week. Topics will come from the internet and audience and will be on any subject. If the McCain campaign has its way, we can expect Brokaw to choose questions primarily from this list of topics. 1) Why is Obama going to raise my taxes? 2) Why does Obama want us to lose in Iraq the way we lost in Vietnam? 3) Why does Obama want us to be dependent upon foreign oil? 4) Isn't the surge great! 5) Isn't Iran terrible! 6) Why did Bill Clinton and Barack Obama destroy our economy? and, a corollary of number 6, 7) Why do Black folks hate America? Yes, I think that Brokaw will introduce race into the general election race, by pretending that the voters want to discuss the topic in order to allow the McCain campaign to whip out their fail safe strategy We can cheat by larger than the margin of error and claim the exit poll/vote tabulation discrepancy is due to the “Bradley effect” (which we know does not exist). For more details see my recent journal here:

http://journals.democraticunderground.com/McCamy%20Taylor/305

Why will Tom Brokaw do this? Because Tom Brokaw is John McCain’s Pimp.

Just remember Tom Brokaw, you can be either John McCain's pimp or an elder statesman of television journalism but not both. The way you comport yourself next week will determine how you are defined in the history books. Do you want to leave the public stage like this?

Note: The Tom Brokaw pics above were NOT done by me. These were already on line, which saved me lots of time, since I thought I would have to cut and paste my own. These and many more can be viewed here: http://forums.fark.com/cgi/fark/comments.pl?IDLink=1242515

2. Brokaw has elevated himself.. I just don't know why
Ever since the passing of our beloved Tim Russet, Tom Brokaw has crowned himself king of the talking heads. I just can't figure out why; his skills have diminished, he is arrogant, angry and needs an attitude adjustment. Someone needs to pull him from the airways.

9. Well, McCain is a stud, not a call girl....
So I figure McCain rides Brokaw looking for his money if you know what I mean.

More famous hot military studs
