I think Palin's looks are carrying her. In eight years at 55, I doubt if her "gosh, golly, gee wiz"

folksy BS will have the same impact without the good looks Republicans are so drawn to. Imagine Kay Bailey Hutchison doing that kind of folksy crap. It would fall flat. Palin's window of making it to the Whitehouse is rapidly closing. Maybe Republicans can run Jessica Simpson next time around? She has as many brains as Sarah and has that folksy, simpleton charisma too plus the good looks Republicans are so drawn to.

Someone like Hillary on the other hand will always be a viable candidate because she is smart as hell. There is real substance and not just good looks.

8. For people who vote on looks, at 55 she is less likely to have what they
are drawn to, but who knows. She has aged very well so far and could look great at 55 or even 60.

9. Lots of older women are drop dead gorgeous. Sarah is looking matronly, not gorgeous. She was
very pretty when she was in high school. That was a while ago, though, and she is not aging well, IMO. Then again, she's had 5 kids. I would not diss her looks ordinarily, but there has been so much hype about them from Pubs and Dems and I have to say, I don't see it. She's okay for her age, not spectacular for her age.

Projecting through the Screen Rich Lowry

A very wise TV executive once told me that the key to TV is projecting through the screen. It's one of the keys to the success of, say, a Bill O'Reilly, who comes through the screen and grabs you by the throat. Palin too projects through the screen like crazy. I'm sure I'm not the only male in America who, when Palin dropped her first wink, sat up a little straighter on the couch and said, "Hey, I think she just winked at me." And her smile. By the end, when she clearly knew she was doing well, it was so sparkling it was almost mesmerizing. It sent little starbursts through the screen and ricocheting around the living rooms of America. This is a quality that can't be learned; it's either something you have or you don't, and man, she's got it.

12. Republicans must be very STUPID!
Our present "gosh, by golly, gee whiz" President has run the country into a deep ditch.

When you don't have a job, and/or you can't pay your bills because your income has been reduced through higher costs for necessities and/or other circumstances...how much appetite do you REALLY have for another clueless leader?

15. Can anyone even imagine Hillary giggling and winking?
I find it so hard to believe that a 44-year-old woman could be put up to be in V.P. while playing a cross between Scarlett O`Hara and Shirley Temple. What kind of a joke is this?? Who, in thier right mind would want this (aren`t I just ssooo cute) woman to be in a position to become the "leader of the free world"? This is the MOST disgusting campaign I could even imagine in my worst nightmares.

17. So, are you saying that if a man came out grinning and giggling?
I have a really hard time imagining a man running for "the leader of the free world" performing before a world audience(which would be our V.P. debates) like this woman did. She sets women back years and years(IMHO). It seems to me that a man acting like she did would be destroyed in the press.

21. I just hate this crap.
I keep thinking at least the Democrats have moved beyond this level at this point in history. I guess not.

Palin is an inexperienced but charismatic person. If you want to degrade the argument to looks and age, I'd say that she doesn't look the way she did when she was twenty, and I'm sure that if she acted now like she acted when she was twenty it would be incongruous and not go over well. So she obviously has the ability to adapt, mature, and remain charismatic to people. Frankly, if something happens to keep her in the picture in eight years, she will still be charismatic (even if we don't find her so), and she will have the charisma to go along with it. She could be a series challenger by then. I don't believe she'll stay in the limelight after November, but if she manages it, we'd better have a better campaign strategy than "She's an old ugly woman now so who would vote for her?"
