I have a new hero today, and I only know her first name. |

Yesterday, at an Obama phone-banking-party, after working for an hour or more on our call sheets, we all took a break for a lovely lunch, provided by our hostess. Talking about McCain, everyone was putting in their 2 cents worth and one woman said something about how ridiculous it is for Palin to call herself a feminist when the man she's running with is such a woman-hater. One person asked, "What makes you say that?" And this woman (her nametag said "Ann") said, "Well, what would you call someone who refers to their wife as a c-u-n-t?"
Only she didn't spell the word, she said it out loud.
I thought the local pastor was going to drop his paper plate. So Ann said, "It's a quote" and reached for another cookie.
Turns out (although you'd never guess it from her high level of energy and enthusiam) Ann is 85 years old. She volunteered, showed up to work for a cause she believes in, made about 60 phone calls to voters in swing states and was a lively part of the ongoing conversation.
So here's to Ann - my new hero!! If I make to 85, I hope and pray that I can be as focused as she is - not on herself or the aches and pains that usually attend reaching that exalted age, but on matters of importance that make a real difference in this world.

Foul mouthed seniors for the win! Reminds me of my Grandma (no joke, it really does...).

3. The foul-mouthed senior in this equation would have to be McCain. |

|
seen Obama win - she loved him.

9. I'm sorry she didn't make it, either (but she's probably still watching). How great |
|
these "old-timers" are. I have endless admiration for them.

11. Beautiful story, and a good example of |
|
why we should all lay off the old-folks jokes.
