Check out this NYT Headline: Conservative Dominance May Be in Its Final Days |
|
“Obama Democrats press for Washington to regulate financial institutions, augment the health insurance system and redistribute income through adjustments to the tax code…Flush with cash, Mr. Obama’s party embraces opportunities to carry once-forbidding “red” states in the presidential race and build larger House and Senate majorities to enact their agenda. Mr. McCain’s party aims at a narrow presidential victory on a shrunken battlefield as some Congressional Republicans have begun viewing his potential defeat as a step toward political renewal.” - John Harwood, New York Times
Man, doesn't that sound nice!

We have to win first. I take nothing for granted. Obama has had a lead before only to see it slip away in the face of nasty attacks. The way I see it, Barack Obama is the first African American nominee for president in US history. He's got a Muslim-sounding name and has been the victim of a vicious smear campaign designed to create doubts about his religion and patriotism, even his US citizenship. No matter what the polls say, Obama will always be the underdog in my book, until the day he takes the oath.

I can't live in despair, dwelling on unacceptable outcomes. I just don't have the strength. I visualize the outcome I want and keep my mind focused on that.

Conservative ideological hegemony may be on the way out, but it's taking the Who-pudding, the Roast Beast, the Tree, the last can of Who-hash and everything else--except a stack of bills and creditor notices-- with it. And the utilities are off.
