Obama should deliver economic address: "It looks tough, but things are going to be okay."

This sort of thing is usually the President's job, but he's lost all credibility.

If Obama were to start off his stump speech with a reassuring comment about how we've taken the first necessary step toward a turnaround and point out how current events present opportunities as well as concerns -- for example, the energy problem creating many renewable energy jobs.

He can dovetail that into his stump speech message about his economic stimulus package and his renewable energy strategy.

It could well have both the effect of calming the market and of pointing out how his deliberative, steady approach is what the country needs right now instead of McCain's tendency to exhibit erratic behavior.
