With McFailin' dropping out
of MI, and Northern VA as well as possibly leaving the MN market. Do you think this is mostly due to very bad polling #'s or a lack of financial resources? I can't imagine it's money as 1 month ago, after the convention, he got a check from the feds for 84 MILLION dollars plus the gazillions that the RNC had. Is there any way to find out how much money he has left? What do you think are the reasons he's abandoning states?

7. That's probably true
McLame went "all in" on a pair of 2's while Obama was holding his royal flush close to the vest...

2. All of that money disappears very quickly.
Especially when trying to remain competitive with someone who can spend three times as much. He's definitely feeling the money crunch.

9. If he's really down to that amount
then that explains why he's abandoning entire states. I guess I just can't imagine blowing through 54 million in a month.

I'm seeing ads every night! And that trip Palin took to Torrance, CA... what a joke!

There is a lot of money being wasted!

Good... snicker...

4. It's all about the money
With the amount that he'll have to spend just to defend what are supposed to have been safe red states for him, he can't afford to continue trying to poach all those blue states from Obama.

13. But VA is (or I should say WAS)
a red state. Why would he pull out of there? I don't see how he can win without VA.

27. Obama up by 20 in Northern Virginia..
and making some inroads in the conservative southwest from what they say. It's quickly slipping out of McCain's limp grasp.

6. Both, probably.
I think if the polls were good there, they'd have more reason to stay.

But no point in throwing money at something he's losing so fast.

Why the hell was he campaigning in Iowa? California? I'm glad that he's running such a disasterous campaign.

But yeah, I didn't get Iowa.

It'll be interesting to see where McCain spends the next month.

19. To raise money for who? The RNC?
Since he took public financing, he can't raise any money for his own campaign.

8. That $84MM million barely paid the 83 lobbyists working for Mc.
At $1MM each, Mc had very little left to spend on Palin's designer outfits.

11. When will the RNC decide to cut their losses and stop spending money on the ticket?
If their internal polls look really bleak they may decide no amount of money will fix this thing. If that happens - they may curtail spending just to keep their ft cat donors from going ballistic.

12. I know here in OR
the RNC has been throwing a ton of money at the senate race this year in an attempt to save Gordon Smith's ass. It's going to be just like the McCain campaign...FAIL!

28. If the trend keeps heading in Obama's direction the way it is now..
we may see that in the next couple of weeks. It will soon be virtually unwinnable for McCain.

24. Well if Cindy McCain didn't blow their prez funding $ on 5 star overseas hotel
Edited on Mon Oct-06-08 06:34 PM by rainbow4321
in Cambodia they might have money left over to put towards the prez race. Sucks for McLame.

And how the hell does he get away with having an American Express entry on his FEC list....doesn't he have to account for every penny?? WHAT is on that bill???????? Nice way to cover up whatever is on it.

29. In Minnesota, McCain's ads have been bundled with Coleman's and the NRSC's
despicable personal smear ads against Al Franken. Minnesotans are rejecting the negative attack ads, and i think it is reflected in McCain's numbers here. While Minnesota traditionally goes blue, had McCain included Pawlenty on the ticket, it could have been a far more competitive race. IMHO, I think MCCain has wasted his money here. It is also obvious that the RNC, NRSC, McCain and Coleman didn't understand their audience. Minnesotans don't respond well to negative ads.
