6. IT's a silly point to make. Obama sometimes has a southern twang to his voice

depending on the crowd he is speaking to. It's not a real issue.

I will never forget the 2004 debates when he and Kerry were in St. Louis and Bush turned the accent on so thick he said "Mizzurah". It drove me nuts. Not the accent, but the fact that this jerk from Connecticut could talk like that to be "folksy" and that people would eat it up as if he were one of their own.

Not to bag on Southern voters, but I guarantee you that if Obama or Kerry campaigned in Boston or NYC and tried to talk with a local accent that people would tear them to pieces for being frauds.

It's definitely an act. Sure, the folksy isms are to be expected, but she's changed her accent, as well. Her vowels are definiely, longer, imo.

Tony Blair became adept at it. Blair is an elitist, but would he drop his British Received Pronunciation ("BBC English") accent and affect a more contemporary Estuary English accent depending on the context (i.e. who he was speaking to).
