Obama's Senior Advisor on the Debate...
"Obama, 47, is prepared to return fire. ``Our first thing is always to talk about the issues,'' said Robert Gibbs, a senior adviser to the Democratic nominee. ``But if we need to counterpunch, we're certainly prepared.'' "

Sounds great, but why is he saying we are prepared to "counter-punch" instead of going out and being the aggressor in terms of debating McCain on facts and having for HIM to defend himself. I liked last Fridays debate strategy, I hope not much changes.

1. Agreed, I think he should stay the course..
the passive-aggressive stance next to McCain's rabid dog act worked well.

2. Why push for him to start off by slinging mud?
Americans don't want this and Obama's campaign advisor is saying they don't plan to go there (but will respond if necessary).

7. Bringing up Keating Econmics, McCain's Background
is to me, at least, not considered mud slinging...

Bringing up Palin's secessionist past or Palin, that *****, saying that Obama is palling with terrorist is slinging mud.

my 2 cents

3. He doesn't need to be the aggressor.
It's been clear that McCain is screwing himself by unleashing his pitbull tactics in this campaign. Let Obama appear above the fray.

4. Let Obama be Obama.....
He's a statesman and a leader, not an attack dog.

Americans don't want to follow a lying attack dog, hence John McCain isn't doing that well in the polls.

5. When you are ahead in the final rounds of a fight,
why choose go toe to toe in a slugfest with your opponent? Nothing good would come of that.

6. The audience should be told that McCain shouldn't act desperate and stick to important issues
The usual stuff wil come up but Obama will be able to answer it.

8. I expect Obama will be agressive
but on the issues - McCain is very vulnerable on issues like taxes, the economy, health care, etc. and this is exactly HE will try to turn the debate into a mudslinging contest.

9. Town Hall debate audiences don't like negative attacks

I'm sure that's why Obama won't swing the first punch.
