3. Talk about a game changer!!!
That would essentially destroy any small hope that McCain has left. Plus, it would assure a McCain meltdown.

I think it could be done and worded properly so as not to come across as threatening or uncivil.

Yet they should try it, IMO. How could the media spin it against Obama if he did something like that? That must be what they are worried about.

Obama's ads have attacked McGrump's method of campaigning, at least.

19. I would love that. This isn't politics as usual...
I asked earlier if those who believe in political strategy still believe these are times of politics as usual, as far as playing the game in order to get elected and THEN do the right thing?

Palin's Racist Rallies have taken things to a new level. So, I ask this question once again.

It's not a snark question, it's a serious question, from someone who is NOT a political operative/strategist and from someone who dislikes the game it has become. Not that anyone likes it, but some accept the necessity of the "game" aspect more than others.

There's no contest between Obama and McCain as far as the course of this country.

Yet, I'm feeling the times are so extraordinary -- with fascism seeming to essentially be in place, no longer looming (see Naomi Wolf video: Give Me Libert, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_XgkeTanCGI ) -- that it's time for Obama to, in his very calm, direct, intelligent, even wise manner, call out the corruption and manipulation at the highest levels of government. Call it out clearly, not in a nuanced fashion. Call it out so clearly that if something were to happen to him or his candidacy, people couldn't help but tie the two together.

Waiting to take office, or even until November 4th, may be too late.

Isn't there enough information out there now, accompanied by justifiable alarmist concern, that the purveyors of truth finally have just as much a chance of being heard as the political terrorists such as Bushco and their allies?

It doesn't seem to be a time for politics as usual. I'm not talking "taking off the gloves" type of "strategy."

I'm talking press conference to reveal crimes against the Constitution in no uncertain terms. Call out Pelosi and Reid and others as being complicit if need be. If Obama is a man of integrity -- and I do believe he is -- this isn't a time for politics as usual. People are finally waking up and paying attention, and they're frightened.

Yes, I realize this is naive on my part, but I also believe wholeheartedly that truth and transparency are in a prime position to take the spotlight. Finally. Not just talking about truth and transparency, but acting on it.

43. It is decreed that we are to be held hostage to "politics as usual",
over the cliff and into hell's fire, if need be.

I more than share your distaste for the game. But I am reconciled; I am beaten. I now live in a dazed stupor, and cheer for those who beat me. The years of anger and frustration are behind me.

There is no emergency (other than the one that's been crystal clear for over five years).

I hope the good guys win.

21. No thank you. Don't open the door to RNC planned response.
McLiar would just say something about never calling him that, but being sincerely concerned about his associations. He'd go on to say he questioned Obama's judgment in accepting contributions from a former terrorist. He'd say in a grampy way that "you may think the guy's reformed, but why would you take that chance?" -- Looking all concerned and helpful.

I imagine the RNC has a multi-sentence comment all ready for McLiar to reel out in reply to any challenge like that. They'll tell McLiar to roll it out and DOMINATE THE TIME, keep talking. Question his judgment.

33. Sorry. I'm not convinced. Still don't want to give extra time to McLiar to deny it.
He'll just say something like "I understand that you may not have realized you were consorting with a known terrorist at the time, but you need to be more careful when you're serving all the people."

The RNC will give Grampy reasonable lines to respond to that kind of challenge. He will sound like "Gosh, I'm really just worried about your judgment..."

Edited on Tue Oct-07-08 03:49 PM by Guy Whitey Corngood
don't spend their time thinking about what to say or not to say. They just do what they do. Of course he'll deny it then he can't keep talking about it since nobody else will give a shit. Make him say" I don't think you're a terrorist and I would never call you one." Take it away from him. We all know what these people are implying. Same way Kerry should have told bush to his face never to question his patriotism again. Enough is enough, either own up to your shit or stop acting like a giggling teenager.

46. I understand the value in your approach.
It's the Get Real Already approach. Fish or Cut Bait. And you may be right that calling McLiar out would have great impact.

But I don't know what impact 30 seconds of McLiar -- being so darned concerned about Obama's poor judgment, but glad that he did later renounce his associate's bombings --- might have on the public.

Some will remember the dynamic challenge
and others will remember Grampy being sincerely and quietly concerned about the new guy's past radical associations.

I just don't want to give Grampy the 30 seconds of prime time to do a "fear Obama" commercial.

You're saying those 30 seconds of Obama calling him out would have a far greater impact than the fake excuse McLiar would reply with.
