Calling all dog/animal lovers...

Tell this website what you think of their exclusive McCain/Palin advertising...

Check out www.dogbreedinfo.com -- it is plastered with McCain/Palin ads. You can submit a comment here: http://www.breederinfocenter.com/contactus.php

Below is the note I just send them:

Hi there,

I am just writing to question your judgment in having your website covered with McCain/Palin ads. I realize that advertising revenue is important, but having these ads implies that you endorse the ticket. As I am sure you know, the Humane Society has recently endorsed Barack Obama, giving McCain only a 25% rating on animal welfare issues. Furthermore, Sarah Palin has an abysmal record where animals are concerned, including support for legislation allowing aerial hunting of wolves. I recommend removing these ads so as to avoid turning away the many dog lovers that visit your site.

Sincerely,
SallyMander

1. Dog breeders are on my s*** list too...
The things they do to those poor animals in the name of a "breed" is disgusting.

I just watched (for about the 4th time) a dog documentary on PBS last night... the horrors!

2. We foster puppy mill rescues

and it is just heartbreaking! I know there are "responsible" breeders but i could never justify buying a dog when there are so many being euthanized in shelters every day. :(

6. We adopt rescue animals exclusively...
we have a rescued english bulldog and an rescued amer. shorthair cat, and in the future we'll continue to adopt these animals.

That said, there are a lot of great breeders out there. You just need to be very careful and do your homework whenever buying from one of them. And if you run into a questionable breeder, report them and tell everyone you know to steer clear. Our first Eng. Bulldog was from a wonderful breeder - but it took a while to find one with the reputation that met our standards.

14. I've rescued three dogs in the past 10 years...
And as soon as I have a decent backyard again, I'm going to get a couple more.

Skin problems, eye problems, skeletal problems... it's a wonder modern Boxers can walk at all. So many breeds are so inbred you can count on them having arthritis, or asthma, or any number of horrid diseases. All because people want "perfection" in the breed... when in actuality, it is anything but perfection they are creating.

Bless the beasts and the children...

3. I followed the link you gave and I didn't see a single political ad
for either party. Are you sure you gave the right link?

We're having dinner-with-the-in-laws tonight and I'm scared we won't get back home by 9:00! We're leaving at 6:00.
If I don't get back in time then I'll have to find it on youtube or somewhere before I come to DU :-(

11. Or you could post a "no spoilers" thread

and everyone could laugh at you. ;)

Hope you make it back for the debate, but have a nice time at dinner too!

9. most companies don't have a choice/clue about the ads on their sites. it's all automatic.
my site has a relationship with google. google basically chooses the ads. i'd like to say that i have zero input on the ads on my site, other than the fact that i can change the size/location of them. as far as the specific message of each ad, well that's automated by google. it changes all the time depending on how many ads have been bought and the content of your site.

12. Hmm, gotcha

Seems like you should at least be able to say "no political ads" or something like that! This is interesting info, thanks!
