Chris Matthews keeps rising, imho. |
|
He went ballistic last week on Bill Maher's show about "the illusionary beer" that Nascar dads think they're gonna have with *, and the Zellonearth confrontation this week, and any number of Repugs lately that he's called on the carpet.
Response to CM always seems tepid at best at DU. I know he worked for Nadar at one point in history...is there some part of his story I'm missing?

2. He's got a long way to go to make up for his past... |
|
For every good thing like working with carter, he's done a lot of shitty things from his pulpit of a nightly and weekly news show.

3. I think Tweety has had a revelatory experience of late. |
|
I think he has been forced, by circumstance to take stock of what has been said on his show, and in the world around it, and has come to the inescapable conclusion:
Whatever America is supposed to be, this ain't it.
How many times could be be smacked in the face with the repuke bullshit before it dawned on him that something is very, very wrong with their crap?
Just like with any recovery, it will be in fits and starts, there will be regressions to the old form, and relapse events are always possible.

14. The Swiftliars was his his revelatory experience. |
|
He loves everything about politics... except anything remotely disparaging of veterans. That puts him firmly on our side.
I hope that the stuff that's coming out now about dumbya's desertion is taken seriously enough to cause him to get into it seriously.

4. His interview with Zell Miller was great. |
|
So was his interview with Michelle Malkin.
I don't watch him regularly. Mostly I just watch clips on the Internet after folks on DU talk about them. But I'm wondering if I should make an effort to watch more often.

13. Frankly, CNN was much more effective in exposing zig-zag. |
|
They simply asked him questions and his stupid answers spoke for themselves. He sat there like an idiot, while Greenfield & co. just stared at him, as if they were saying to themselves "I can't believe what I just heard." They (mostly Blitzer) then asked a follow up question, and zig-zag would make even more of a fool of himself.

19. so was his grilling of Peggy Noonan |
|
it was wonderful, very entertaining.
But I still put him in Bush's column all the way. I can't count the number of times he's slathered over some really bad people.
And none of these "smackdowns" resembled the way he treated Dennis Kucinich, which was really bad, no humor about it, just an ambush.

6. He has no core -- except his ego |
|
Matthews is almost schizophrenic. One day, he'll be strong and passionate on one side of the fence, but the next day he'll be equally passionate on the other....
But it's not objectivity, because he is so opinionated. He isn't simply a gutsy interviewer -- he acts more like an advocate and tries to hammer his own opinion into everything. And his opinion keeps changing.
THat makes him worse than if he were a partisan conservative. One day he'll be pushing Kerry, the next day, he'll be pumping Bush. He's got a lot to do with encouraging the perception that Bush is rising.

8. He's starting to show his true colors |
|
He's a genuine Dem - he was a top aide to Tip O'Neal - and I think with all the crap being thrown around lately, he just can't pretend to be a "nonpartisan" journalist anymore. Like many journalists, I think he probably wants to throw his head out the window like Peter Finch in "Network" and yell, "I'm as mad as hell and I can't take it anymore."

15. the fog clears for him, then he gets swept away |
|
the reason, he is sitting in center. he is in mist of. so when an energy starts going he is in that, which obstructs view. we sit outside of it. so we are not influenced by this energy and we can see clearly, our view not obstructed
i think this is what happens with tweety. why at convention, sitting in the energy kick ass which he likes and is disappointed dems dont do, why he reports the story so wrong. then he will start hearing here and there, step away a bit and say wow, this was totally different, i thought these people were kickin ass instead they are just mean spirited and trashin in lies
then i think he gets pissed cause he got sucked in and starts going after whomever fooled him. that is when he starts tearing the repug talking point dudes.

He's one of the main culprits in creating the mythical "beer buddy" Bush. Yeah, he's been great for a few weeks but he won't come off of my "sucks" list until I see how he does through election day.

17. I cannot forgive Tweety...he is MWE |
|
Media Whore Extraordinaire
Based on many, many reasons, but three come to mind:
1) His conduct during the impeachment debacle 2) His outrageous behavior during Election 2000, particularly the none-too-subtle animus showed towards Gore 3) His most recent offense....at the DNC, cutting off Sharpton's speech to launch into a harangue insulting Sharpton WHILE HE WAS STILL SPEAKING.
Add the general complaint that he's in love with the sound of his voice and he never allows a guest to finish a sentence, he's got a LONG way to go to atone for his debasement of his profession.

I like TweetyBird, but with Matthews, I get images of Tweety-zilla, when he drinks the Dr. Jeckyl/Mr. Hyde formula...and turns into one scary bird.
