The only problem would be the how to implement it with the myriad of naming conventions DU has. For mine it would be easy enough as I have the white space in my id and only two words. But throw in another white space + word and where would the new text go? The same is true for the capitalization. For example in your id: FrenchieCat I could use the second capital letter as my break point, but then I'm sure there's other id's that use multiple capitals that may not break a name properly. Temporarily allowing users to modify their own would probably be the best approach, but even that could have potential problems depending on the system.

That'd be an interesting problem to solve that's for sure!

Helping people is a great thing to do. It is an even greater thing when it isn't used as a cudgel against people who are doing nothing worse than talking on an online forum. I really don't get the vitriol. What was so terrible about this thread that it means people participating in it haven't helped anyone today (or at any other time) etc.? A lot of people participating in this forum are also working their asses off on anti-poverty programs, the Obama campaign, working for environmental groups etc. I know I am and that doesn't mean that if I log on to see what people are talking about or read some funny threads, I don't give a shit about poverty, suffering etc.
