I'm beginning to think Palin will deliver the election 4 years from now...
As idiotic as this chick appears, they fucking LOVE her. Palin gets the crowds, generates campaign contributions, and makes many in Freeperville wish the ticket were Palin/McCain. And lets face it, if this cycle is any indication, her competition in 4 years isn't gonna be that tough.

So yeah, I think she's the odds-on favorite to win the Republican nomination. Given the Shitstorm the republicans are leaving the Dems with, I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't have the best economic 4 years of our lifetime. That said, I just don't see that Palin ever breaks 40-45% of the electorate. She pretty much rawks with the base, which means she probably wins the nomination, but just won't get further.

In short, if Palin gets the Repub nomination in 2012, a distinct possibility, I think our chances are fairly high to have a good 8 year run!

1. Palin is like Huckabee

The base loves them, but they're way off the mainstream. In addition, Palin is a complete idiot.

13. You right...
Even her biggest cheerleader, Pat Buchanan, couldn't deny that she only excites the base.

every time I have said that about the Republicans I have been wrong. Time will tell.

3. No. Her only appeal now is her cute flirting. She won't be so young and 'fresh' in four years.

29. Totally right! Her jowls will be sagging and she'll not be "hot"
which so far, for repubs seems to be the #1 reason to vote for her.

position for any President, I only hope people realize that it wasn't his policies that got us here.

7. She's a loose cannon and is sinking the McCain ticket. Her popularity is falling in Alaska.
I see her slinking back to Alaska, admid controversay and scandal. She'll finish her term as governor with little to no fanfare, then that will be the end of her elected office career. She'll continue to do "interviews" on Faux Noise Channel, where she might be offered a show. However, it will have to be filmed in Alaska since she don't seem to believe that anyone outside of Alaska counts as a human being. She is obsessed with Alaska.

8. Sarah Palin = Geraldine Ferraro '08
Her political career is over after this.

And if it isn't, i see it being contained to Alaska.

11. The GOP women HAVE to like her right now because they didn't get a say
in choosing her. But there are plenty of infinitely more qualified GOP women who can take her place in four years.

12. I think Nixon was the last GE "loser" to run again and win.
I think they just get that stigma of "loser" and it's hard to overcome once you have it. By the end of this thing, it should be obvious to all Americans that the Palin choice was a huge mistake.

14. With the amount of dirt that has been dug up about this woman...
in such a short period of time, I can only imagine how much MORE dirt there will be in 4 years...I'm not sure she would survive a all of this dirt circulating continuously throughout an election season...she will lose her luster quickly IMO.

They have absolutely brought her out before she was
ready.

I think her political career will be RUINED if she
is not careful.

18. Absolutely not.
She won't get a brain in four years. She will be no less ignorant four years from now than she is today.

Her appeal, such as it is, is extremely limited, and declining rapidly.

In two years she'll be a trivia question.

23. She may not survive in Alaska
Edited on Wed Oct-08-08 10:42 PM by merh
Her tax records reflect per diems she wasn't entitled to claim, let alone pay taxes on.

The violation of their state personnel laws and their constitution could well get her impeached.

The Palin we see is not the Palin that once was popular in Alaska, many have started to look closely at what she "has done" and see the croneyism and the enrichments.

The repubs may have done us a favor bringing her out this soon, she is unprepared and her "conduct" as Governor reflects her notion that she can do what she wants, who is to stop her.

Oh, and the GOP loyalists, the true powers, they don't like McCain and cannot stand Palin - they were stuck with McCain, they won't get stuck with Palin.

The crap she has been living with is already catching up to her. No way she could possibly be a viable candidate in four years - or ever.

28. Got the crystal ball out here.
Through the swirling mists of time I see Sarah Palin and Todd sitting at their kitchen table. It's 2020 - little Trig is not so little but wants to sit on Mom's lap, Bristol is sitting there with her three kids reading the decree absolute and the other kids aren't there. They've seen the light and gotten out of Alaska.
Todd speaks.
"So Sarah, Jeb Bush is running for Prez this time. Why don't you give him a call. See if he needs a VP who's gonna "excite the base". Put on those FMP's and get out there and fire them up, like you fire me up."
"Todd, I called yesterday. They said they appreciated the phone call, but my "sell by date" had passed. Not sure what that means."
