This is the biggest way that Bush* has divided people. |
|
Lying.
When you lie, you end up putting people in two groups: those that see it and admit it, and those that don't and/or don't care. The people in the first group pretty much can't help but be divided from the rest. For every time he has lied, he cannot claim to be a uniter and not a divider.

1. We need to prove his lies |
|
and also his empty rhetoric- Kerry is attacking him head on on his being a talker and not a doer.

2. It's not about the lying itself |

You have to understand that we are split into two kinds of Americans today: Americans who don't feel alive unless they're in fear of something or have a convenient enemy, and Americans who want hope.
Bush does appeal to people's basest instincts of fear - in fact if you were to magically rid the world of terrorists and dictators tomorrow, Bush would find another "enemy" to promote. It's what he does best.

4. You're wrong about the two kinds of Americans today |

I think it breaks down into "thinking" and "feeling" people. Bush has the people who "feel" good about his twangy Texas cowboy bullshit, and Kerry the rest. People just don't think, and that's the problem.

7. yeah, a little from column A and a little from column B |
|
good observation - and the easiest and least risky thing you can commit "feeling" to, is fear. Even "faith" has on its balance the fear of not having an afterlife, that this is all there is.
Irrational hope is equally destructive though. It's always best to choose pragmatism motivated by the desire to make things better tomorrow than they are today.

3. The only way we can win |
|
is when we stop bashing each other and focus on getting rid of Bu$h and his gang.
They want the country to be divided, because that is the only way they can maintain their grip on power. That is why they support things like hate radio, personal attacks & bashing, and rabid fundamentalism.
It is a shame, because it is such a waste of time and energy. Could you imagine what we could accomplish if we were all working together instead?

5. No, we don't need to prove his lies. We need to demand that |

he prove they are not lies. Course that approach means that some of these media people and politicians on both sides need to grow some cajones.
