Good news in Texas... I went by Dem HQ here in our south texas city and
they were all out of Obama yard signs. I'm trying to get one for my neighbor and us. Hq said they were swamped with phone calls yesterday after the second presidential debate.

Bad news: Hq said that the GOP is organizing to disrupt the vote here by challenging alot of poor people, young people, making them fill out provisional ballots that they will try to throw away. I've volunteered to be a poll watcher.

2. I'll be the newbie. I hope there are some experienced poll watchers
to help work the polls. I have to get training on helping people who have been denied their right to vote.

7. I hope I can get away for a whole day if that is how long it takes
for the training. It won't be easy. Our eldest is disabled, so being away for 8 hours can be problematic.

9. More good TX news
I don't live in Travis County but with it being the bluest part of the state just watching their numbers is encouraging. Previous reports are predicting an 85% turnout. Hopefully we can expect the same kind of turnout in the DFW area!

While the dust is not 100% settled, it has cleared somewhat from this past Monday's 50 site, 24 Hour Voter Registration marathon.
Here are the final reported numbers from the University Democrats.
Monday: 5,656
Semester Total: 11,500+

And according to the county, with all of the mail and other drop offs, their total for the last day is a mindboggling 32,246 voter registrations.

About 14,920 voter registration applications were received on Oct. 6 and on Oct. 7, 17,326 were brought to the registration office.
Of the total received, about 9,000 came from volunteer deputy registrars and 8,000 came in the mail. The two day total of 32,246 is record breaking.

Remember, Oct 7th is the day after the deadline when most of the until Midnight stuff was delivered. That 32,246 number is probably even higher when you count the mail that arrived yesterday and today but was still postmarked on Monday- potentially 35,000 effective registrations received as part of the 24 hour last day effort.
