I was Vice President of Acorn in Austin in the early 80s
I did work helping Vietnam vets with Veterans Administration, helping the poor find food and housing resources and
voter registrations

I worked with ACORN until my second child was born at home by midwifes who were
also members that traded out their services to women and their partners. I built an
examining table for them for the birth.

I ended that involvement when my wife had my son and quit working. I didn't have the time to continue with Acorn
and supporting my family as a carpenter

I'm sick of the slam on Acorn.

1. I talked to my congressman's aide yesterday
and ACORN came up. He said he has been in public service for 20 years and is working for a congressman who represents an area where ACORN has supposedly registered thousands of voters. But he has never met anyone who works for ACORN. He said you would think if they are such a huge presence I would have met at least one of them. LOL

2. Well, you met an ancient one.
The whole story from the right and media is a bullshit boogieman story .
Registration does not equal a voter or voter fraud.

BTW
Acorn started in Arkansas and then moved out to Texas.

3. Thank you for speaking out. Have you considered writing letters to editors?
People read those letters because they're brief and to the point. You were there. You know what Acorn is and isn't. Please consider lending your voice to the media.

4. Almost 30 years ago ..... don't think it will help much
I was ranting because of the attacks on ACORN
on DU and the media today. "the lou dobbs' thread sent me ballistic
and reminded me of my own past with Acorn

I have much more power on the web rather than writing
letters to the editor and have done so it that way.

Thanks for letting me rant.
