Tsk tsk tsk, Bush only up by 9 points???? |
|
Expectations were he would get a HUGE bounce out of this convention. These numbers have to be a huge disappointment to Rove and Hughes. He is the incumbent and gave the speech of his LIFE last night. Sorry, George.

At least a 9% bounce or he's won't even have a chance. Now it's Kerry's job to cut him down and bring himself up from here to the election day, which shouldn't be too difficult. Lick Laura's Bush - Drop Bush Not Bombs! - FUCK BUSHhttp://brainbuttons.com/home.asp?stashid=13

|
Shows both candidates are losers.
I say the Republicans drop Bush and the Democrats drop Kerry, cause it seems the American people really don't want either one.
The sad part? Kerry is losing to a loser! Does that make him a double loser?

17. Actually, Kerry got huge bounces in national security/foreign policy |
|
He may not have had a large single bounce, but the perceptions that he could deal with foreign policy and national security rose by 15% in some polls.
It's not a horse race. It's a marathon.

Kerry MAY fall behind 15 points here and it might be a little too late for one final push. I'm sensing Kerry is taking a chapter out of the Book of Dole; early lead (Dole was beating Clinton early on), but fizzled out when it counted.

19. Coming from someone who was supporting Kerry way back in October 2003... |
|
...where CMB was polling better than him and Dean had a commanding 35% lead, this is NOTHING. The Kerry campaign had to go dark in August to save the limited cash until Election Day. Now (as of last night), the engines are getting fired up.
The Time poll has two problems: - A Bush/Faux Snooze shill is responsible for the poll - It's too early to do a poll about the Bush/RNC performance; wait a few days...

Can't compare the two. First Kerry won the nomination because of the built up belief that Dean was unelectable. Also that was only among Democrats, people of the Democratic ideology. Now we're in an election where you've got two major candidates, and a VOTING populace (I don't buy into the theory that eligible voters are middle of the road) that aren't so set on Kerry.
Doesn't change the fact that Kerry should be dominating this race. I'm realizing Kerry is just as inept as Bush...which is scary, or shall I say skerry.

What makes this a fact? The analysts I've seen had Bush heavily favored for quite some time. Now one of our resident geniuses state it is a "fact" that Kerry should be crushing Bush? I'd like some methodology, some kind of support for such a statement.

Edited on Fri Sep-03-04 05:45 PM by Sean Reynolds
Because I've come to realize Kerry is an inept campaigner that is dropping the ball way too many times. Why shouldn't this election be a cake walk? He's running against a man that has an approval rating BELOW 50%! He's running against a man that LIED about war. He's running against a man that has built a horrible economy. He's running against a man that hasn't actually done anything in the 3 1/2 years he's been in office.
Kerry has let Bush define this election, subsequently he's going to let Bush walk all over him. There is no reason Bush should have 48% job approval rating, yet be winning an election by 11 points. Do you not understand what that means? A majority of Americans DON'T like what Bush is doing. Yet more of Americans WILL vote for him over Kerry.
How's that for logic?
Bush, not liked by 51% of the country, is still garnering the most votes against Kerry.

29. You selectively chose different polls, |
|
taking bits and pieces of each, then jumped to a conclusion that "Kerry is an inept campaigner" because the most important poll of all isn't breaking the way you think it should. And from this, it is a "fact" that Kerry should be dominating this race?
I have said this before, and will say it again: No sitting president in history has lost with an economy performing like this one. It has never happened. Not once, not even close. The most historically successful predictive models have Bush at between 51 and 56% of the popular vote. Yet, genius that you are, you insist that Kerry should be winning easily. It's not even your opinion: it's a fact. Maybe he needs to let loose with a couple of eeeeeeeeyahs. That will get him going.

32. He is running against a man that some believe is the 2nd coming |
|
of Jesus Christ or at least John the Baptist, he is running against a man that is, in his supporters' opinions "is one of us"; he is running against a man who has been campaigning for 3 1/2 years, who stood on rubble after 9/11 and inspired the masses; who sought revenge for 9/11 just like the sheeple wanted; who waves the flag with one hand, while he steals from the coffers with another.
You don't realize that as incompetent as * is, there are many that believe he is a hero. Why, not because Kerry cannot campaign effectively but because his cronies OWN THE MEDIA!
Instead of whining, it would be much more effective if folks would do their part to inform everyone they know about *'s failures. The media won't do it for us and they don't give Kerry equal time, so we have to do it.
 I hate whining people who know so much more than everyone else, though they have never had to campaign for a national office in their lives. I trust the Kerry campaign, but I will not sit quiet and make them do it all on their own. I will work to have the truth heard.

It seems like you aren't really interested in stopping Bush and have a glassy-eyed view of Kerry.
I remember the months leading up to the primaries where some of the people for other candidates asking me when Kerry was going to drop out. Kerry is going to win this election.

It's people like you that still believe Carter will make a comeback against Reagan and McGovern MIGHT pull out the upset against Nixon.
Maybe if the campaigns saw the hole they were in back then they could have done something to STOP the blowout. They didn't. Instead they just felt they were going to win because they should win. Well Gore should have won. Carter should have won. McGovern should have won.
They didn't. If Kerry is banking on win because he SHOULD win, he'll lose. It's time when he steps up and realizes he needs to fight for that win.
He's got to get on the offensive and take control of this election. He's not doing that.
When Bush brings up Kerry's Vietnam record, Kerry needs to bring up Bush's Vietnam record.
Kerry needs to wake up because he's about to lose his grip on this election.

Kerry is and will continue to bring up Bush's Vietnam "record".
He just won't drop the bomb too soon without getting ultimate impact.
Next week's 60 Minutes is going to expose Bush as being given special priority with getting in the National Guard with the then Lt. Governor saying so.
It ain't gonna be pretty for Chimpy.
More stories and ads will come later.
This is war. Just when Chimpy thinks it's going great, he will get pummeled.
I agree with your frustration on the attack on Bush's lies. Kerry isn't going to fuck around like Dukakis, McGovern, Gore or Mondale.
At least I'm going to do my best to make sure he doesn't.

|
Am I correct that Time/CNN has a +11 for Bush; Zogby from yesterday has a +2 for Bush and there is some other poll floating out there on the board tonight that I didn't click on that said something about tied. Now which one is this. Unfortunately, I do think 9 is big unless it is a poll that always had Bush ahead. I think we have gotten a September wake up call and no one can afford to hit the snooze alarm. So which poll now has the 9 points???

34. Most voters have made up their minds, so not much bounce. |
|
Many of the electorate are polarized and angry, having chosen sides. Others are indifferent to politics, and need to be coaxed into voting. They represent the undecided who will determine this close election. We must work diligently to get our message out.
Who are the Republicans today? Some are greedy people who resent paying taxes. Many of them are filthy rich, and others want to be. They believe that people should fend for themselves, and if they cannot, let them die. Other Republicans are self-righteous religious fanatics who are under the spell of preachers like Falwell and Robertson. Their view of Christianity is one of hatred, not of love. As such, they are more the children of Satan, not of Christ. Then there are those who are blind to the fact that their party has been taken over by right-wing extremists and powerful monied interests.
A few of the electorate are in small third parties, but Democrats encompass nearly everybody else, those who do not fall into the Republican camp (greedy, fanatic, or blind).
Bush and his cronies have made large strides in destroying America as we have known it. I truly believe that if we do not win this presidential election, the destruction will be complete. No longer will we be a beacon of hope to the world. Instead we will be a country devoted only to corporate greed and exploitation. Make no mistake my fellow DUers, we are fighting for the sole of America, and for our very lives!
