Are you starting to feel a bit more comfortable about Obama winning in Nov? |
|
I was still nervous until Florida and Ohio flipped for Obama. Now I think it would take a catastrophe for him to lose. There's too much for McCain to overcome and not enough time.

And I'm not a wet blanket, I do think Barack has a very good chance and I AM hopeful, it's just you never know what will happen. I think Ohio is tough to snag, but Obama has has a very, very good chance of winning Florida, and I think he will. I won't relax until Nov. 5, but that's just me. :)

12. I will be shocked if he does not win. If he does not it was obviously stolen. |
|
Espcially if he goes into this with over a 5 point lead. If its 7 of more and he loses then the so called "bradley effect" cannot be used as an excuse. I hope the Rethugs realize that if they do try and steal this it could cause riots and violence the likes of which have not been seen since the LA Riots back in the early 90s. It would be the LA Riots on 1000. I just think people have had enough of being lied to by the government and will not stand by if an obvious misjustice happens.

18. Not just comfortable. |
|
Positively giddy. The idea of Stevens and Ginsburg finally getting to retire with good replacements makes me teary-eyed with joy.
I'm also giddy that his presidency will start around the stock market bottom. If the recovery takes place over the next four years, he'll get some credit and his re-election will look even more probable.. which makes it more likely that he'll get to name another court justice or two. Scalia, Souter, Kennedy, Thomas.. they're all getting a bit long in the tooth.
If this election accomplishes anything, it's that our chances of finally getting a liberal-dominated Supreme Court skyrockets. :D

but I'd like to enroll Scalia into the "Bacon of the Month Club" and the "Steak of the Month Club" and "The Salty Fatty Crispy Snack of the Month Club."
He's 72, and his poor heart will have trouble with such a devastating loss for his party. He'll need some comfort food to help him cope with the loss..

21. Actually, I'm feeling (a little) LESS comfortable... |
|
The reason is that I've always figured an economic downturn would hurt the Republicans, and so far it has. But, right now, it seems like we're at a tipping point between anger over the economy (which fosters a "throw the bums out!" mentality) and complete financial panic. The crucial difference between the two is that the latter fosters an emotional reaction of "Oh, what's the use? No one will be able to fix this, it's too huge," and a reaction of wanting to hold on to whatever sense of security one has. That could lead people to opt for what is familiar to them (grandfatherly white veteran) over that which might be risky (young black man who might make things worse instead of better).
To seal the deal here, Obama has to find a way to calm down panicked voters, and to convince them that he does have a plan to pull us out of this, even though everything the "experts" tried has failed so far. If he can do so (and if anyone can do it, it's Barack), we'll win in a landslide. If not...then it's going to be close, and possibly a narrow win for the "familiar" over the "new."

And then they called us UnAmerican and wouldn't let us recount even though we found about 90 examples of voter fraud in the books, just the few they "let" us look at. I had to go on Wellbutrin. So, no, I'm not comfortable.
