**Obama pulling away in Florida Obama 52 McCain 44
Obama's brilliant strategy of making a major push in Florida with an investment of $ 39 million is not only pulling McCain dollars into Florida and away from other states it is also giving him a strong and expanding lead in Florida.

If McCain loses Florida no reasonable scenario exists where he can come close in this election.

Strategic Vision

1. If the election for President were held today would you support the Democratic ticket of Barack Obama and Joseph Biden or the Republican ticket of John McCain and Sarah Palin?
Obama/Biden 52%
McCain/Palin 44%
Other 1%
Undecided 3%

and this response to question 6 tells the whole story

6. Which presidential candidate do you believe would be best able to handle the economy, Barack Obama or John McCain?
Barack Obama 56%
John McCain 36%
Undecided 8%

Foxmussen shows a clear lead

But the crosstabs show that Obama's favorables far ahead unlikely to change

grantcart, you bring us tidings of great joy. I'm thinking, "Hell yes, we'll be mighty pleased to take Florida plumb away from the GOP, yessir."

Obama's strategy has been sound. McCain ought to be rolling up impressive leads in high-retirement zones like Florida, and here he is struggling just to stay even, and now falling behind.

I love it.

7. kick
Florida will send the entire nation an apology for it's past electile dysfunction on 11/4.

And then I will go buy some orange juice the next day. A product that I have personally boycotted since November-December 2000.

8. Agree with you that if Obama defeats McCain in Florida,
McCain cannot assemble a winning number of pieces from the remaining electoral map puzzle.

If we knock him off there, he's finished, and Barack Obama is the next president.

If Florida does, certainly Virginia will, Colorado, Nevada. probably North Carolina.

15. Get set for a possible long night though!
After Florida in 2000 and Ohio in 2004 the networks are going to be even more unwilling to call states that are close. We might be up past midnight. My earlier thoughts that it was going to be an early night are not going to come to pass. Indiana, North Carolina, Virginia, Florida, and Ohio will keep people on the edge of the seats until Midnight Eastern time. Unless there is a big surge in Obama numbers form any of those states.

Really think this election will tighten and it will be a Midnight or later election victory for Obama. I hope I'm wrong about the numbers tightening.

18. You are correct
If Obama wins FL, it's over. And if he doesn't, it's still over. The fact that he's managed to divert McCain's attention and resources will allow him to win on so many other fronts. He surprised McCain (not hard to do) and it's too late for McCain to recover.

25. OMG! I think I was part of this poll! Was called two nights ago.
I have privacy ID so I only have a number, no name. Asked about 10 questions in all. I live in the Florida panhandle. First time I was called for a national election. Was called once before when Chimpy's brother was running for FL Gov.
