I'm going to see Gary Hart this morning in Denver. It's an Obama round table discussion. |
|
Gary Hart and Ed Perlmutter (a dem rep) are holding a round table discussion on national security in Denver this morning at the Denver Athletic Club. My son's friend, Colin, who is a paid staffer for the Obama campaign, called yesterday and invited us to go to it.
I had also been invited to another round table discussion a few weeks ago, led by a retired female Sgt. Major, but I couldn't go to that one. They discussed women's issues, especially relating to women in the military.
These round table things don't get a lot of national press, but they're just another way that the Obama campaign reaches out to voters on specific issues.
Obama also opened another office in Colorado last night - in Highlands Ranch, which is the reddest of red Denver suburbs. I continue to be amazed by how Obama is truly going after every vote. And he's doing it on issues, unlike McNuts.

9. LOL! I say get this man out front and center more often, then. |
|
Because he can't be accused of just not liking republicans, can he?

5. Hah! Yeah, well everyone is a friend of Johnny McCain, my friend. |
|
I feel he means quite the opposite when he calls people, "friend".

4. I'm trying to think of questions to ask right now. It's too early for |
|
my brain, I think. Any suggestions?
I love Gary Hart. He's brilliant and we're proud of him here in CO.

6. I'd ask him to explain his Social Security plan...or Medicare. |
|
I LOVE his SS plan, not sure what he has in mind for medicare, but I think hitting up the AIG top executive types to cover the burden of it would be fine.
It beats the hell out of being eaten by the poor. (where is my old 'eat the rich' bumper sticker??)

8. Hi, JenniferZ. Yes. Hart is a titan. He was on the early project which warned |
|
about the possible use of commercial planes as weapons against the nation's interest, and of course, his advice was little sought and roundly ignored.
I've respected him for a long time, and volunteered for his campaign against Mondale.
And he has a Divinity degree, which puts the fundies back on their heels, because he is a total expert in the religion that they've grown accustomed to distorting.

10. Maybe I'll ask about the mixing of religion and government, and |
|
how it can lead to terrorism - not just in the ME but perhaps even here at home.
I'm also considering asking about our relations with Pakistan and Eastern European countries.
