This is exciting! Chip Collis informs us that NPR contributors Don Gonyea and Sean Bowditch happened to be in Defiance today. They had been in Indiana looking for McCain supporters and couldn't find any!!! They found some non-Obama supporters but none for McCain. They at first thought about going to Michigan but since that state really isn't in play, headed for Ohio. They were wandering around in Defiance when they came across Dusten Retcher, a Obama HQ volunteer who told them about the HQ. When they visited, Henry Diehl was in the office, among others. The burnt lawn sign they speak of in the posting below had been brought into the office and mounted with the note by Chip. They plan to report on this on the weekend, probable time to be announced. We'll keep you informed as soon as we know.

Don Gonyea and I just stopped by Obama's tiny campaign office in Defiance, Ohio, a small town in a part of the state that Obama is working hard to keep in play. The office has a nondescript storefront. Behind one window is a life-size cardboard cut-out of Obama as well as a half-dozen political signs for various down-ticket races. Taped to another window is an ad announcing a local scarecrow contest.
What immediately caught my eye when we walked in was a standard Obama lawn sign tacked to the back wall. It had been set on fire a few nights ago, one corner now burned off. A volunteer found it while canvassing a local neighborhood. Next to it is a note written by the office staff. It reads: "Why We Fight".
