I'm really starting to sense that Palin is playing Hitler to McCain's Hindenburg.

AP--"Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin said more than one person has whispered in her ear in Ohio that John McCain needs "to take the gloves off" in his campaign against Democrat Barack Obama. Before a friendly crowd of Republican fundraisers Friday, the Alaska governor did that herself."

There is definitely a rift between McCain and Palin right now, and oddly enough, it's the unknown-five-years-ago VP that seems to have The Base on her side.

McCain is not a nice guy, but he's perhaps a little more empathetic and more diplomatic than she is--he KNOWS that continuing to go nasty and negative with the GOP crowd will cost them the votes and appeal they already have. Sarah, clearly, doesn't care. For whatever reasons--a manipulative brain, a wacky religious faith, a mean streak, the firm conviction of correctness that comes with a lack of inquisitiveness all come to mind--Palin wants to ride the hate train all the way to Election day. She, unlike McCain, wants to STEP UP the attacks on Obama's "background" and "church." She wants to continue to whip up support in states that McCain knows are lost--why? Because on Election Day, they'll be inspired to "get mad" when they lose. She's already a Republican Icon, in appearance as well as language. But when you can fire up a room full of people just by calling your opponent a "community organizer from Chicago," clearly you have what it takes to be a true demagogue.

The Freepers are furious right now--at us, at the country, and at John McCain. Many of them seem like they would be ecstatic if McCain were to drop out and Palin take his place. They don't care about calling Obama "an Arab" or "a Socialist," and are positive their beloved, BEAUTIFUL Sarah (look how they reacted when she was "untouched" on the cover of Newsweek) would continue on this road. Their tiny brains are truly going to snap when he does get elected, and somebody has to talk them down. McCain, as he did today, might do that. Palin? Don't bet on it.

When I was still canvassing, a German-born woman gave me a small donation and told me she was once an Independent--but Sarah Palin's nasty speech at the RNC pushed her right over the edge. And she told me--seriously--that it reminded her of old newsreel footage of the Fuhrer from her grandparent's era.

I'm not scared of Sarah at the moment--but only because McCain is at the head of the ticket. I'm scared of her in 4 years, when they crown her Chancellor of the New Republican Reich.

2. I like the analogy. McCain is NOT off the hook!
He's trying to pave the way for fascism.

6. Notice how nobody ever invokes that Law on Free Republic?
Except over there, the Nazis are National Socialists (emphasis on the word "Socialist") and not Fascists.

7. Godwin's Law Was Repealed
The repeal of Godwin's Law was included in a little-noticed provision of the Patriot Act.

8. I agree 100%!
I do not like McCain, but he has not always towed the party line
and does not get along well with Bush (even though he is patting Bush's hind end to get the nomination of the Republican party). Perhaps McCain was "compelled" to take Palin?!?

Palin seems to be someone who is to the right of Bush, if such a horrible place exists.

If McCain were to "win" :scared:, I would bet that he would be forced out under the guise of
"health concerns". It would seem to be the only way to get another Bush-like creaton into
the Presidency. Palin was put there for a reason. I have seen the how the Republican party works.
They make our Conservative party seem moderate.

Think about it, use the "maverick" McCain as a trojan horse to get another right wing ideologue
into the Whitehouse. Anything it possible.
