We don't need more cowbell, we need more black humor!
Maybe it's only me.
I just had a post yanked stating that Obama doesn't want to take freeper guns away, because they'll need them to blow their own fucking brains out after the election. Apparently, that's too edgy.
Well, sorry folks. I came of age at 19 in the A Shau Valley, and I spent my formative years with my fellow grunts, occasionally having to police a battle field (that's picking up body parts for the uninitiated); and all the while, we were bitching about getting ham and lima beans in our fucking C-rats, or having to burn a shit trench. We didn't sweat hurting each other's feelings. And now, there's very little that offends me at the ripe old age of 57. If that's a shortcoming on my part, and it very well may be, I'm too fucking old to change. I will continue to post the occasional unacceptable post, all the while remaining a donor to DU, until such time as I'm irrevocably tombstoned.

1. I enjoyed that post.
Wrote a quite witty reply (if I may say so, myself), too.

Maybe it's because a large chunk of my "formative years" were spent in The Bad Place.

Go on and post man, I'll cover.

Tom

2. And if I ever want someone at my back, it's a Navy Seal who rates the Cross.

3. Michael O'Donoghue and Hunter Thompson are somewhere laughing at that one, 11 Bravo.
And probably together.....heheh.

4. I like that kind of humor too
although one can really be walking a fine line with it. A line I admit I cross from time to time.

Anyway, I'm curious if you've read Michael Herr's book Dispatches?

5. Absolutely. Mike Herr listened to grunts and reported us in our own words.
As honest a book as you will ever read.

6. I just love that book
I've read it at least 6 times and think it's among the best I've read about Nam. Every time I get my hands on another copy I give it away and have to go buy a replacement.
