Relating ACORN to Obama: I smell Karl Rove a mile away.
The Repigs know they're vulnerable with regard to the slimy things they've done, the voting machines, the disenfranchisement, the purges, the roadblocks, everything.

So they change the subject to "voter fraud" in an attempt to deflect, confuse, muddle, change the subject and make it seem as though the other side is doing the same thing in different ways and so it's therefore just tit for tat.

Kind of like how the MSM feels they have to "present both sides" even when one side is an outright lie. They're making sure there's another side for the MSM to report, and at the same time making sure they can keep preventing people from registering and voting by making ACORN a "Democratic Dirty Trick".

But that's not good enough for them. Once they've got the evil narrative going (including the outrageously http://mediamatters.org/items/200410270005">false, fear-incuding statement that ACORN even registered a terrorist in Ohio in 2004), then they have to top it all off by making it not just a Democratic "trick", but an Obama "trick."

http://www.gop.com/obamaacorntree/

Note the LARGE print "Barack Obama" right next to the quote, "I've been fighting alongside ACORN..." which makes it appear that it's a direct quote from him (and of course the photo of Obama directly over the quote). Then underneath in small print they say who really said it, calling him "Organizer in chief" which would lead people to believe he might be an organizer for Obama.

1. They are bastards
and OBAMA MUST STOP THEM. It won't work if Obama just give the high road to everything.. If it is brought up in debate he must speak forceful against these bastards just because a few bad apple has done terrible things at Acorn, this doesn't mean that this Organization must be brought down and disregard the incredible good work it has done throughout years in poor communities.

3. It's an official GOP site. Oh, I almost forgot to mention:
Notice the states listed below - of course they're mostly swing states, or red states Obama's been making inroads lately (IN, NC) but TEXAS? That's more fear-mongering - saying Democrats could actually steal their prize possession with its 34 EV. It's intended to provoke the same reaction that happened among Dems when the GOP tried to steal half of CA by reapportioning its EV's.

4. Can we stop saying that Rove is behind every fucking thing that happens?
I'm getting so sick of it it's not even funny.

5. I smell him. ;-)

But it doesn't matter if it's him or not. In reality, it's his influence in the party and they've seen enough of how he operates to be able to copy it by now. He's not a genius, and they don't need to be geniuses to figure out WWKD.

And by the way, if it's NOT him why have they refused to produce his e-mails with regard to the firings of US Attorneys who refused to prosecute "voter fraud"?

6. Who knows, who cares? I think Rove has washed his hands of McCain personally.
And honestly, it wasn't Rove who started this kind of shit. It was Lee Atwater. Rove is just his two-bit knockoff.

8. I think Rove is studiously making sure it doesn't look like he's working for McCain
so that when McCain fails it won't be seen as another Rove failure ala 2006. But he's certainly working behind the scenes to help the GOP still, and I'm sure he's already thinking about 2010 and 2012.

Anyway this subtopic of Rove is not really the main point of the OP... I should have said "Rovian Tactics" or something, but it was nice and catchy. (Caught you!) lol

I'm sure this'll drop like a stone anyway, it's nothing most people here don't already know.

7. the rover
Karly Simon is easy to beat. Just send him 300 copies of Babe: Pig in the City. He'll watch each one, back-to-back, with no interruptions. Should last until the election is through.
