away and it will all be over after the first debate. Please spread this around so that Kerry won't be complacent. Bush is a silver-tongued devil.

I predict that Kerry will blow Bush away. Kerry is an experienced debater, and he's sharpened his attack (hopefully not too late), and if he discreetly carries that venom into the debates, he'll do great.

We're trying to lower expectations so Bush can't benefit from the "well, he strung a sentance together, so he beat Gore" effect from last time.
Just tell everyone Bush will win the debates, so that when Kerry wins people will be doubly impressed.

where Bush pretty much was given all the questions ahead of time so Rove could write up the answers and give Bush practice time on rolling them out.
Bush couldn't do a real debate if his life depended on it. Bush cannot speak off the cuff. Heck, when the protestors disrupted the convention last night, Bush looked like a damn deer in the headlights because he had no practice on how to deal with this kind of situation.

4. AHA! But Bush is easily riled. |
|
I remember during his first debate with Gore, bush* seemed to get upset when Gore kept harping on the tax cuts, and how slanted they were towards the rich.
Unfortunately, Gore was too nice, and backed off. All Kerry needs to do is find a leak in the dam and start hitting at it, be it dead soldiers, unfunded mandates, scandals, etc. But he must pick one, and stick to it. If Bush snaps, we win.

The last time Bush debated someone, it was a totally inept opponent, aka Al Gore. I don't mean to insult him or anythimg, but he really was trying to lose that election. You could tell. Plus, Kerry's been a star debater all his life. Bush, to put it lightly, is no mental giant. So instead, I think it'll go the other way and Kerry'll blow Bush out of the water. As for the VP debate, its gonna go the same way. John Edwards is was possibly the best trial lawyer in the whole country and could convince a jury of anything he wanted to. I can't wait to see him take Cheney apart brick by brick.

bad and did all he could to obtain it, he is not Clinton but he is a very intelligent man, I believe the reason he lost is not only did the GOP not play fair nor the media, but that he made one very large mistake and it was not about the debates...
It was trying to keep Clinton away from his campaign, fearing the stain of the white house little drama would somehow take votes from him, he should have had more faith as most of us do in Clinton, faith that has not once diminished in the slightest, by me anyway..

I wouldn't go so far as to say that, did the media say that? He was very on target on what he was saying, and one cannot blame him for being shocked at the stupidity of his opponent and showing it for all the world to see, I don't really recall exactly what they said the next day other than Bush had won and I remember screaming at the tv going "whaaaat?"

To begin with, Dubya has a miserable record & his policies are attractive to only certain factions in the country.
But Kerry's ace in the hole is that Dubya can't think on his feet under pressure; he's thin-skinned, cowardly, & bumbling in adverse surroundings; & he's not even close to Kerry when it comes to being intelligent & articulate.
I'm looking soooo forward to the live debates!

that Bush is a skilled debater. Nevertheless, the point is well taken- Kerry needs to prepare well for what works with the masses. Public debate in America are not so much about forensics- unlike real debate like CEDA or NDT- it's more about theatrics- and positioning- neither of which Bush does particularly well.
The problem Kerry has to overcome is that unless he's a major theatrical hit, his performance will be lied about and spun by the corporate media into a "draw," when in fact any forensics judge would give him the win hands down. Another thing he ought to try to do is get Bush's goat. By all accounts, the man has a temper and we all know how condescending he can come across- that's the side that Kerry needs to bring out- possibly with ridicule.
If Bush loses his composure, he loses the debate. Remember, this is a guy surrounded by yes men and hidden away from controversy. When asked tough questions or put into extemporaneous situations where he's not scripted, he gets flustered and exposes himself for the shallow, dishonest and unintelligent man that he is. People need to see that- and the media can't help but talk about that if it happens.
My worry is that Kerry will play Mr. congeniality- and pampers Bush, or is overly respectful, all bets are off.

And they will keep pounding away saying this bullshit until people even on the left will say oh well Bush did do better than we expected...hence, Bush comes out a winner.
The format for the debate is oh so important as well.
If they have a format with a right-winger steering the debates like they did with musclehead Arnild in CA, all will be lost...there has to be real debate...not one that Rove insists on, with the question in advance, or politely done on say Larry King...then Bush will win those lite weight "debates, as being likeable:!!!!

Aw shucks, he made good ole Bushie look bad... ? Gore rolled his eyes and that was the big story. He sighed, Heaven Forbid! And yes, he won the election but it shouldn't have been that close.
