Running out of niceness
Edited on Fri Sep-03-04 09:28 PM by Ky For Kerry
I usually a very congenial person, kinda of a "laissez faire" you live your life and I'll live mine mode.

Help where I can, good citizen, vote, pay my bills on time, fine friend and not judgmental, accept the world is full of repugs, to each his own but...

I have had enough of these ostriches that have their heads buried in their butts and don't have a clue to what is going in the world, don't want to know what is going on and get really ticked at anyone who tries to tell them. They prefer the "minute news breaks" if they watch news at all.

A lot of people are apolitical and I try to respect that. I love the campaigns, national policy wonks, the give and take, the war between parties, the discussion, etc. of our government. Not everyone's cup of tea (present company excluded) BUT how can people not get involved, form an opinion, give a damn - one way or another - when citizens are dying, the economy is in the toilet, terror is on the upswing and everything else that is facing America today? I have so many friends, acquaintances, neighbors who just don't give a darn - and I don't "get" it. I do not try to ram my views down anyone's throat but all around me I see a whole coterie of people who do not want to be bothered discussing current events, candidates, or elections. These are not dumb people, many are well educated, working, active people - friends, co-workers, etc. They are ready and willing to talk about the latest reality show, what is happening on Judge Judy or if I think Brittany has had a boob or nose job or has had her ears tucked back! Ack! Enough!

I'm ready to forget the live and let live BS and kick some butts. These uninformed, uncaring morons are now affecting my life, my kids' lives and most importantly, my grand-children's lives.

Sorry for the rant but aren't there people you would just love to shake?

I feel better now.

4. Its time
to start putting the truth out there because you know the media isn't. Kerry's campaign hasn't been near aggressive enough, and at this point i think the only left leaning news program around is the daily show. desperate measures are going to be needed at this rate!

6.  Its time
For many uninformed voters to pull over and change the air in their heads. The single most important election in God knows how long... and they are worried about Judge Judy and Brittney. (sp) How foolish.

A great billboard or commercial should show our grandchildren on skid row... carrying signs by the side of the road "will work for college tuition", bag ladies.. with no retirement... men without hats.

Sorry 'bout the men without hats... it just sorta snuck in there.

5. I just do not understand....
Edited on Fri Sep-03-04 09:45 PM by dennis4868
how people who do follow politics to some degree could vote for Bush after what has done on the last 3 1/2 years....all the crimes, lies, flip flops, bait and switch by Bush and his thugs makes me sick...how can people ignore the fraud and crimes of the medicare bill, outing a CIA agent, lieing us into an illegal war, lieing to NYers about the air quality immediately after 911, etc...? It is just so obvious that this WH is corrupt beyond what Nixon could ever dream of and yet people are voting for this guy....WTF?

9. I think it's an unwillingness
to face the fact that not only is their leader is coward, a thief and a fraud but everyone within his circle is as well. That's frightening to most people, especially those whose only wish is to do their 9 to 5, come home and enjoy their life. The idea that the person who is most supposed to be upholding their right to do that is actively working against them just scares the crap out of them. So it's easier to believe that the truth-tellers are the ones who are in fact lying, that they're the ones who hate your country and everything it stands for. A mass media that has almost been fully co-opted doesn't help any either.

10. Watch Eric Alterman on C-Spam
He was on this morning or yesterday morning on Washington Journal. He took live phone call questions from both Dems and Repugs and he handled the nasties with aplomb, grace and facts. Challenged them to support their silly assertions. Maybe it would work on the uninvolved if handled like Alterman. It certainly can't hurt.

8. me too, and it is horrible.
i made a woman cry a week ago and still think about it. woke to this mroning and told self not worth it, then immediately people are dieing. dieing. i mean........is anything more worth it

i cannot do stupid. i cannot/willnot do uninformed. shamefully irresponsible. they arent my children or fathers or friends dieing over there. but i am willing to fight for them. surely these peoples family can spend a little of their time to be informed to actually save the lives of their loved ones, is this asking too much

12. i go tit for tat, personally.
i try to respect their 'no-politics' lifestyle, but when they want to talk about mundane nonsense that i couldn't be flayed to death to care about, after shutting me down and being a rude listener, i just respond "you don't bother to be polite and listen to me and be an active conversationalist about politics, why should i be polite to you when you want to ramble on about (sports, latest trial, pop culture, etc). tit for tat. let's talk about something else so we can wallow in our shallow friendship."

i don't have time for these people. and i won't make time for them. there's 6 BILLION people on earth, and there are many who are really cool - i'm off to find them. and if what's-his-face don't like it, and wants me to fit their little world view, fark 'em.

a relationship is a two way street, not one way. just tell them that. and if they don't get it you know what type of person they are, a user and abuser, member of the all-about-me club. screw 'em.
