Okay, I FINALLY get it! I know what Kerry is doing wrong. |
|
no wonder we are having such a hard time fighting to be heard with the issues. Maybe it would work better for Kerry if he changed his "policies" ...For starters:
He must, bitch-slap Bush daily by saying, "shut the fuck up you lying bastard."
He must, yell "go fuck yourself" when republicans try to paint him as a "girlie-man"
He must permently wear "chaps" with "I love America" embroidered on the side.
He must, tell bin laden, "hey you, towel head, fuck with us and we'll 'smoke you out' and use your buddies as our Sunday BBQ charcoal"
He must, tell women, "hi, honey, you're a good cooker, so I need you to stay at home and make my chow"
He must say--with the most audacious tone: "I know what the hell I'm doing, do you"?
And the list goes on...
:eyes:

I dunno....I think I need a break from DU.....I understand the feelings behind the posts, but I am growing weary of freak-out posts. They wear on me after a while. Like I said, I DO understand feeling that way from time to time, but politics ain't no tea party. Conventions happen, candidates get bumps, shit happens. Trick is to keep our noses to the grindstone and keep working hard. Register VOTERS!!!!!! Use Campaign Underground and the MEDIA BLASTER!
Action makes you feel soooo much better. Take action!

phone banking. I am EXTRMELY proactive in this campaign, however, after watchin real time with Bill Maher, I can see that all political correctness must go out the door when dealing with these ruthless liars. I should know, I lived in Texas when Bush slashed Ann Richards to defeat. I know it's an extreme, but some of these idiots just want a "daddy"...I want a leader...
so I will keep doing what I can to get Kerry in office:)

Something we haven't had in a while. I will do everything in my power to see that we have a REAL leader next January. God, won't it be wonderful?

5. What on earth is going on on this board. Is this a "virus"? |
|
I've had some really weird posts today. "It is all lies". "It is a defeatist conspiracy". I have not been here that long, but this is new to me.

20. I'm beginning to think we have "posters" deliberately disrupting the board |

If it goes on we will start to look ridiculous and a waste of time, and lose people just when we need them.

I am talking about "posters". That is people who post to a "thread". A "Thread" cannot be disruptive. But a post to a thread can be. Anyway, I don't see a little "X" next to the thread. But my eyes are not the best. Can you be more specific?

there will always be disruptors to this site. There has been an overtone of "negativity" in the last few days and it comes from frustration. I don't think it necessarily means they're all disruptors, just frustration. This election is gonna get REAL dirty. If you thought it has been dirty so far, then buckle up, it's gonna be a bumpy ride. I have a constant headache of frustration. Working the phone banks and being around others at our democratic headquarters helps immensely 'cause at least I feel like I'm doing something, however, some days I need to step back and just breathe

10. Taking a break from DU is a good idea for me at least.... |
|
I LOVE DU, but we can get wound a bit too tight sometimes. Between the board here and the TV and papers etc. I think some of us can just succumb to emotional exhaustion.
We can continue to support our candidate but we need a break just as much as the candidates do... Let's go windsurfing.. (just kidding) Seriously, take a few days off and do something pleasant... I spent time with an old friend, drank wine in the sunshine and laughed ...it was a great treat.
PEACE everyone.... breath in, breath out :D

18. Yes, I'm sure you and many are. Take a day or two and rest up. |
|
There are many people working around the country....keep up your strength by taking a "down day". Fall is upon us..enjoy at least a day or a day off every so many days. It's refreshing and you'll work better and stronger.
It happens to be warm in my area (indian summer..last days of summer)..the sun is lower in the sky, the light is changing ever so slightly. It was SUCH a joy to run off and be with a dear friend, sit in her garden and sip wine. Tonight, I will sleep well. Tomorrow the fight goes on...
Go easy on yourself. Peace

9. Well, that sounds a little over the top, |
|
but doing maybe a third to a half of that stuff might help.
Like telling Bush to shut the fuck up and threatening bin Laden would be good. Hell, even MENTIONING bin Laden might help.

11. Actually, I have to agree with that. |
|
Of course, your examples are exaggerated, but there is a huge segment of the American voting public -- it looks like 95% to me -- who are susceptible to junior-high school thinking about their national leaders, as well as junior-high school type name calling. That's why the word "strong" was so prominent at the DNC, and Kerry's service in the Navy was emphasised.

14. No, there's a huge segment of the American voting public... |
|
...who are given nothing but junior high school thinking and name-calling about their national leaders. That's why WE need to get out there and TALK to them, instead of calling them fools. I know you didn't, but there are many here who do.

17. As you said later in this thread, some people want a daddy, |
|
I want a leader. I don't want to have a beer with him or fantasize about him. I want a leader who is of above average intelligence, well-informed, and can speak on many topics without notes or a teleprompter. I want a leader who tells the truth, too.
(Hell, I think all of the above should be required of journalists, including television news anchors. Once upon a time, only the "weather girl" was just a pretty face reading a script. . .)
These characteristics should most certainly be required of anyone who runs for national office.

21. Kerry has to make them squeal like stuck pigs |
|
Stop pretending there are rules and referees. This is political pigsticking and you know you hurt them when they squeal.
Kerry's response to the Swift Boat liars was to let the media, McCain and his surrogates do the dirty work. Great idea. The ads got loads of coverage, the lies got out and most media figures with a few honorable exceptions were perfectly happy to let them spew their filth and then have some (usually hapless) Democrat on to provide "balance". Sure there were exposees in the mainstream media. Did they help? Sure but the people we're trying to reach probably don't read the New York Times.
Kerry has to start hitting this guys where it hurts, and I don't mean just one speech where he gets tough, we at DU cheer, and then he goes back on his positive message until the next time they make him squeal. He can use surrogates sometimes where it makes sense (e.g. Dean questioning the Orange Alert--that brought out some really big squeals) but big John's gotta start doing the dirty work himself and little John's going to have to start learning to be an attack dog or we are toast.
