No wonder Drudge is treating that new Rasmussen five-point poll as BREAKING NEWS OMG MCCAIN COMING BACK ZOMG!111!!

Other poll highlights:

Who do you trust more to handle the economy?
Obama 53
McCain 37

Who better understands the economic problems Americans are having?
Obama 58
McCain 28

Who do you trust more to help the middle class?
Obama 59
McCain 31

Also, McCain's favorability has dropped to 52, where Obama's favorability is 64.

My favorite part of the poll? The "Enthusiasm" Question. Right after the Palin pick, 46% of McCain voters supported the ticket with enthusiasm. Now? 29%!!!!!

5. Nice but...
...it should be noted that in the chart here, ABC/WaPo is rated only slightly more reliable that Zogby.

8. Err, slightly?
Edited on Mon Oct-13-08 02:42 AM by orestes
The pollster error for ABC/WAPO is 2.12, Zogby is 5.73

The top 3 highest rated have .75, 1.02, and 1.3. Zogby is the 2nd worst, ABC/WAPO is middle of the pack.

edit: Didnt notice there are two Zogbys listed, nm. It should be noted, though, that Zogby used a smaller sample size

11. Only 0.04% difference...
As you noticed, there are two Zogby numbers. Their phone polls, like the tracking poll, are the ones with the 2.16 error. Their online polls ("Zogby Interactive") are notoriously screwy.

The thing is, I'm not sure whether that 2.16 figure applies to the tracking poll or not. The methodology that has a lot of us questioning Zogby's tracker is the 2% turnout difference between Democrats and Republicans. Did his earlier polls this year (from which, I assume, the 2.16 was calculated) use that same party weighting? If not, this could be a poll with no prior predictable error margin.

13. I don't see how that can be national numbers.
Since the election has not been held yet.

Maybe ABC/WaPo did state polls during the primaries, which is much harder to peg than national numbers.

17. Perception Trumps Reality
Certain polls drive the media agenda; WAPO-ABC, CBS-NYT, Gallup, WSJ-NBC, and LAT-Bloomberg...

Zogby and Rasmussen aren't one of them...

7. Great poll, great numbers! Ignore Drudge.
He is desperately trying to keep McCain in the race. Won't work.

10. I'll feel better when it's 63 - 33 or more
After the vote caging and defective voting machines do their thing we'll need all the voters we can get.

Once again, Drudge is irrelevant.
It should be fun watching these guys try in vain to spin and sell the idea that McLame's making a comeback

18. Among registered voters it's even better: 54-41.
