Why McLame's new "Right Where I Want 'Em" meme won't work.
No offense to Hillary supporters, but this is the same fatal mistake her campaign made.

The electorate is not in the mood for "personal narrative" campaigns.

Remember when Hillary broke out the "You helped me find my voice" line after her NH win?

Guess what? Nobody cared.

They also don't care about McCain being a POW. Not when they're hurting in their pocketbooks.

Obama's most effective line is "This election was never about me. It's about you."

So this narcissistic "Look at me, look at me, I'm Rocky, I'm Hoosiers, I'm the Comeback Kid" baloney of McCain's is not only a sign he's losing badly and that he continues to be erratic, but a fatal flaw.

No one cares about these hackneyed, bad-Hollywood-cliche memes when they're trying to pay their bills.

So keep at it, McCain. Keep talking to yourself in the mirror. Keep forgetting to talk about all of us who are hurting out there. Keep focusing on yourself. Keep at it, and you'll have lots of time to keep doing it after election day.

3. I agree
Obama is winning - if McCain says Obama is right where he (McCain) wants him (Obama), people are going to wonder if McCain is endorsing Obama, lost his mind, or something else. It is a really bizarre thing to say when you are so far behind and lacks all credibility.

2. The problem is, if he can get the media to love him again
he'll get the "Comeback Kid" label that he wants so much.

4. But NPR gave Steve Schmidt nearly ten minutes to push that theme this morning.
He got to play his Blind Ambition ad against Obama and to restate the terrorist smear and to use the tag line "We're just where we wanna be."

Now Pro Republican radio did a whole lot to support the McLiar campaign today.

But hey, they gave us 1 minute of Joe Biden to pretend they're still liberal.

5. Well, the Obama team definitely has to counter.
The media love dumb, simple narratives they can understand, so Obama's folks can't just sit on their hands.

11. Obama team is doing fine. They've countered most RNC lies.
They're so well prepared that they've probably got an ad in the bag to counter the COMEBACK motif the RNC will try to develop if they can get some friendly polls to trumpet a three point bounce sometime.

8. Its not going to work because it is too ridiculous
The "I have got him right where I want him" phrase is cliché, but so is its caricature. We are about to see a bunch of political cartoons portraying McCain making this statement with the the portrayal that he is either delusional or in some way about to be overpowered by Obama. I can see some of them now, McCain and and a few of his cohorts sneaking up on a cardboard cutout of Obama while a Obama and an enormous entourage are ready to ambush him, or maybe McCain playing with an Obama doll while the TV news behind him shows Obama's lead growing.

9. I disagree on the Clinton comparison. She went from dead-in-the-water
to neck-and-neck after NH. She lost because she didn't start organizing in the post-Super-Tuesday states until Super Tuesday had come and gone; Obama got a dozen freebie states.

Still, I agree on the fundamental point. McCain's "hey I'm down in the polls but I'm a fighter" garbage isn't going to resonate. Who gives a fuck about the polls when their 401(k)s are collapsing?
