Mark Twain, Will Rogers and Rachel Maddow
Edited on Mon Oct-13-08 10:02 PM by TxBlue
If humor, sarcasm, and the use of irony in political discourse labels Rachel Maddow as immature per Frum,
then does that put Rachel Maddow in the same category as Mark Twain and Will Rogers?

This is in regards to the Rachel Maddow Show, which will rerun again this hour, when David Frum came on her program and "he was accusing her of wasting the last 40 minutes with having a sarcastic tone. Rachel asked if he was equating her sarcasm and playfulness with calling Obama a terrorist, and he dismissed the question and said in a dickhead way "Well, that's not an excuse for your own failings..", or something like that..." This is from another poster here:

1. Sorry
Let me know what she said and I'll let you know what I think. I know Twain and Rogers, and I suppose I should know Maddow, but I don't.

5. Yes! Absolutely love Mark Twain & Will Rogers
Rachel Maddow astounds me with her intelligence. How she keeps her cool while thinking so quickly on her feet is quite admirable.

10. Oh that would be a dream!
Get rid of that fossil Brokaw. He's not only boring but I can't understand him. He can't enuciate.

Is he drunk or just has developed a speech impediment?

Seriously, in that last debate he was unintelligible.

11. He has always had a speech impediment
but as he grows older it becomes more of a problem--for himself as well as the rest of us.

14. Intelligence

She's been insisting all year that the extended primary was devastating to Obama and made McCain the favorite. I'd call that rank ignorance. I loved it when Scarborough and Harwood basically dismissed her months ago when she launched that pessimistic crap, and Rachel stewed for a half hour with a stunned look on her face, before pouncing on Scarborough in juvenile retribution.

Sorry, I'm not a fan of hers. When you get the bottom line wrong so dramatically and so consistently, it's a disqualifier in my book.

4. I'd say Rachel came out pretty strong tonight against Frum(p) because
she was ablibbing. He had planned what he was going to say; Rachel was not reading from her prompter. She is one sharp cookie, Rhodes scholars usually are.
