Thoughts on how Pre-existing health problems will be covered once Obama's plan |
|
gets stripped going through congress? What are the chances of his plan actually staying somewhat intact?
I blew my knee out about 10 years ago before I had insurance. I keep re-injuring it because it would cost an arm and a leg to get a new ACL and clean up the meniscus. It sure would be nice to be able to have such a problem covered. I am sure I am not the only one here in that boat.

1. There should be no such thing as pre-existing conditions in any healthcare reform we get |
|
in this country. None at all.

7. The healthcare system in this country truly is organized crime, |
|
with health insurance companies at the top of the list.

4. We'll just have to be vigilant about getting our legislators |
|
to go along with the Obama plan or do even better.
We need to be on line with our congress people and senators to get the best possible plan.
Seems to me the simplest thing to do would be MEDICARE FOR ALL because the system already exists. We'd just have to expand it.

5. I Think It Will Be Okay |
|
Remember, after the Republicans killed the Clinton health plan with lies and distortions, they came to the table and came up with some compromises that even the Republicans got on board with. I mean, things like CHIP and HIPAA. One of the things HIPAA does is limit pre-existing condition exclusions and limitations in group health plans.
So, I think forgiveness for pre-existing conditions is one of the things that will survive when Obama has to compromise. I think any kind of mandate requiring employers to offer coverage is going to be one of the first things to be sacrificed.
It's probably going to turn out a lot like Medicare D. Confusing, bureaucratic, full of giveaways to pharma/health care companies/insurance, etc. But, ultimately - for most people at least - better than nothing.

10. I attended an Evening with Norman Solomon and Thom Hartmann |
|
and they reminded us that even after we have our avalanche and get President Obama into the White House, we will still need to push for the most progressive legislation we can get.
They were saying we will need to keep the heat on our representatives to change our national priorities to more sustainable ones.
