How many hours will you pledge to Kerry-Edwards this week? Fix the poles!
Edited on Sat Sep-04-04 08:53 AM by wheresthemind
I don't know about you guys, but I am a little scared. Today it is hitting me how close this is, and how George Bush could have a mandate for four more years. But you know what I am doing today?

I am VOLUNTEERING at the Kerry campaign for 9 hours as I have been for the past month. I will also going in Sunday, Monday, and every week day, even though I have a 6 hour school day, student government, and homework to do.

This is when we need to stop being commentators and political junkies, just discussing. We need to get up off our asses and work as hard as we can for Kerry, thats where we will really make a difference. Do you want to go into election day thinking "I could have done more...".

All you need to do is call one of these offices:
http://www.johnkerry.com/contact/
And tell them you want to come in and do something TODAY. Get over your fear of phone-banking, its worth it, get over your fear of door knocking, it is worth it!

So sign up right here... How many hours will you pledge to the Kerry campaign from now until next saturday?

I pledge 39 hours of my time doing WHATEVER the Kerry campaign needs!

1. I'm Signed Up For Next Weekend
Phone-banking. I've never done it before... anyone want to tell me what I should expect? I live in Michigan, a swing state.

8. I'm in Minnesota...
and what we have been doing are voter-identification calls so we can have a very well targeted campaign.

My guess is you will be doing something along those lines, persuasive calling does not begin for a bit longer typically.

So surveying people is no problem, it can be a little boring but if you do it for a couple hours then you can zone out and keep going longer... good old times!

2. I Salute You!!!
I also am volunteering with a local Democratic team. I am going to walk in a Parade this morning with the Democrat that is running against the 14 year incumbent repug and I have been going door to door as well. WE ALL MUST get off our butts and find those that are not registered and get them to the polls. Cheers to you WheresTheMind.... you are not alone.

:toast: with any non-alcoholic beverage of your choice!!:-)

4. I volunteer about five hours a week for the Dem party of WI
along with working both a full time and part time job, but as we get closer to the election I will put in more hours. As a matter of fact I have already put in to take the last weekend plus Monday before the election off to devote time to GOTV.

5. already doing it
I've been volunteering for the Missouri Democratic Party - we have some hot races here this fall (dumping the repellent Kit Bond, electing another Dem governor, and of course Kerry/Edwards).

I've done some phone banking, it isn't loads of fun but it can be interesting. Republicans have actually been pretty civil.

MoveOn is having a registration drive meeting in KC Tuesday night, and I'll be attending that as well. I have two draft-age nephews and I refuse to let the Bush junta get their filthy hands on them.
