Now Chuckie "Mainstreamer" T dumps on Oliver Stone |
|
Edited on Tue Oct-14-08 07:43 AM by BeyondGeography
"Why should anyone believe Oliver Stone's perspective on George W. Bush? What special insight does he have?"
You've got Jim Cromwell (who plays H.W. Bush) up there trying to give some insight into the father/son relationship and why W. acts like he has a chip on his shoulder all the time (it goes back to H.W.'s own father, his alcoholism and how the family has always suppressed difficult feelings and why they have all wound up as emotional dwarves), and Todd just tries to poke holes in it.
So Cromwell puts himself out there, advances an interesting idea, and all Willie Geist and Chuckie T can do is dump on Oliver Stone. Just another lost opportunity for conversation, resulting in the perpetuation of ignorance. Americans are so good at that.

1. And didn't Cromwell do a nice job "scolding" young Chuckie? Nice. |

is this all we can muster outrage over today? Oliver Stone himself was on Real Time and said that he didn't know the absolute truth of *'s life and the film is his best effort at distilling something out of a lot of material some of which may be untrue.
We have plenty of more relevant issues over which to be outraged now than this film.

4. It's about our hopeless MSM and its Establishmentarian reflex action |
|
and how it co-opts all who come along, Chuck Todd being the latest victim.
Yeah...way to completely miss the point.

5. I actually think Chuck is on our side. He just tries too hard to prove that he is not |
|
to avoid being charged with bias. He comes across as phony when he pretends to shill for the right. He's contrived and obnoxious, and he doesn't fool me one bit. He's down with us.

Yeah. This is a guy working too hard to be perceived as being objective. Grow a pair, Chucky. Objective analysis would make any sane, rational person scamper away from the Rethuglican Party.

7. He's going for the brass ring...to prove your point, he caved at the end and said he was a big fan |
|
of "Nixon."
He'll learn to conceal those moments better as he rises through the ranks, though. Becoming a total fake is essential to the wealth-building mission here.

10. It pains me, but you hit the nail on the head ... |

I really liked the kid, but it is clear he has been assimilated.
Doesn't matter if he WAS a D or not, he is now pretty much in corporate whoredom, and he knows the gig - you marginalize Ds at EVERY opportunity and excuse Rs whenever the truth is too painful.
Good for him, it is America and all, but what he delivers will be corporate messaging.

We can only imagine, but I bet it is. The man is a first class fuck-up.

11. Stone should make a follow up movie |

Of Bush from the prospective of Hannity et al. Just so America can see the difference between the BS and what life was like the last 8 years.
