From the Branchflower report, pages 5 and 6:

Alaska law provides that personnel records and related information is confidential and may be disclosed only under well defined and narrow circumstances. The following two statutes apply to this report.

Alaska Statute 39.25.080 is captioned “Personnel records confidential; exceptions” and provides in pertinent part

(a) State personnel records, including employment applications and examination and other assessment materials, are confidential and are not open to public inspection except as provided in this section.
/snip/
Alaska Statute 39.25.900. Penalties.
(a)a person who wilfully violates a provision of this chapter or the personnel rules adopted under this chapter is guilty of a misdemeanor.

(b) A state employee who is convicted of a misdemeanor under this chapter or the personnel rules adopted under this chapter immediately forfeits the employee’s office or position.

Couple that with this from the Anchorage Daily News:

Board's Troopergate probe casts wider net
ETHICS: Investigator hasn't said who else may be under scrutiny.

The other, by the Public Safety Employees Association, alleges that trooper Mike Wooten’s personnel file was illegally breached by state officials.

It’s clear Todd had access to Wooten’s file and used it extensively in his vendetta. Sarah will have to resign or be impeached over this one. There is no way around it.

6. I hope you are right
As an alaskan, I fear you are wrong.
Although the drip drip of the little things she did, that we knew nothing about, are starting to add up.
To get the the stage that she is recalled or not elected a whole lot more will have to pile on.
You forget almost the entire state is formed of the people we see at the palin campaign rallys.
They dont give a shit what she's said or done, they love her.
There is only a small (although growing) group of "hecklers" in the state.
Maybe we will grow enough to oust her but Im not holding my breath that this will happen at this TIME.

4. And then there's the matter of her house.
Or, could it more accurately be described as the house that will one day be returned to the citizens of Wasilla, since they paid for it.

5. If the repubs lose in November, her 15 minutes of fame will be over.
Thank goodness! I'm as sick of her after a few months as I am of boosh after 8 years. She's a combo of the worst of boosh & Cheney. She's vacuous & intellectually incurious, similar to boosh & she has absolutely no heart, like Cheney. Plus she's everything that gives women a bad name -- the flirtatiousness, the winking. She's uses her sexuality to get what she wants but she doesn't care about helping women overall. Her 'feminism' is as phoney as she is. I don't understand how so many women don't see through her.

I didn't think I could loathe someone more than boosh & Cheney, but I do.

9. She'll still be a tabloid star for a year or two.
They won't let go of her as long as they can make a buck off her. But the political career is over on Nov 5th.

What an appropriate end to this hateful, vile being.

8. Oh yeah! Her house is going to get looked into.
The records for the arena in Wasilla will be scrutinized. The shit will come out and it wouldn't surprise me to see some sort of corruption charges filed against her within the next 12 months. She going to be nothing but unemployed tabloid trash in about a year from now. Her and Todd may both be facing jail time before this is all over.

12. Once, I might have agreed with you
but, then I just look at all the crap W had done (and gotten away with) and I fear you may be a little premature on the demise of Palin's political career. I don't think she's nearly as done as we may hope. Sigh.

19. Picture this:
President Obama flying into Alaska on Air Force One to campaign for Palin's Democratic opponent.

I've held onto this little fantasy in order to calm my outrage over the past several weeks.

It's not really something that president does, to come and help someone run for governor.

15. It would be nice if both Palin and McCain....
lost their 2010 reelection campaigns. For some reason, I have a feeling Palin will get out of being held accountable for Troopergate. If she is reelected, I do think she will run for President in 2012 but won't get the Republican nomination.

16. times they are a changin'
it seems as if a sudden interest in justice is emerging.

and while many in Alaska are supporting her, a bi-partisan panel voted to make public her violation of state ethics law. I hold out hope that Alaskans independence and pride will urge them to do the right thing for their state. Haven't they had enough of corruption? I bet Sen stevens was loved at one time, too.

God, how do these people get into politics? What scares me is how totally corrupt and incompetent these people are.

20. But what will happen to the upcoming reality show, Governor Barracuda?
Edited on Tue Oct-14-08 11:31 AM by Overseas
I figured that because Alaska put up with Stevens all that time, they'd be cool with the petty abuse of power of Failin.

And the new reality show premiering on E! on January 18th, Governor Barracuda, could go ahead as planned. We could watch the antics of the stiletto-wearing Gov, First Dude, and their colorful family !

Yes, :sarcasm:

But the fact that she was even nominated makes truth stranger than fiction, so who knows what will happen.

21. Uhhh..it's pretty obvious that she will be a nominee in 2012
that is if nobody can prove she built her house for free. Did you see Barrett on KO last night? As mayor she got rid of zoning permits, so there is no record of anything. But it doesn't mean some intrepid investigative journalists aren't on it anyway.

With that said, this woman thinks literally (as Joe likes to say :) ) that she is God's gift to the world. She has no humility and no self-awareness. And the rabid right is koo-koo for her.

Yeah, she'll definitely run, but will she clinch it? Very doubtful. If she did would she be in serious contention, mostly likely not after America has experienced 4 years of an Obama presidency and the peace and prosperity that will come with it.

23. You are vastly overestimating the impact of corruption on Alaskan voters
I think people are getting really turned off because of some of the things she's said, and the way she's been ducking the media- but I won't be shocked if she is reelected. Hell, Stevens is under indictment and HE is probably going to be reelected. Alaskans care first and foremost about protecting our own money, and it really doesn't matter how crooked a representative is as long as they keep the PFD fat and the incentives coming. Her fuel rebate was very popular and a promise of it again in the future will get her a lot of votes.

This is the base of the pinnacle for both of them and they can't make the final push and will quit.

27. Apart from the initial bump around the St. Paul convention,
Palin has done nothing to help McCain and is now clearly hurting him.

Republican, even, are grumbling about her.

She can't handle questions from Katie Couric, of all people.

She is likely to face challenge in Alaska -- legal and electoral -- and at this point I can't see her anywhere near the GOP ticket in 2012.
