16. Ok, got it. Here's a TPM article on it
http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/236924.php
Look closely. That's not a picture of an Obama billboard ad in front of a few cool cars. That's a screen capture from the Xbox 360 racing game Burnout Paradise. Advertisers can buy space on the billboards in the game. And the game publisher has confirmed to GigaOm.com that that's an official Obama ad, placed by the campaign.

4. I've seen that he is getting tons of free press for just using these advanced tactics to advertise.
He has some smart people working for him, and the free press alone is worth multiples of whatever this cost the campaign.

7. Whoa! How'd Obama manage to pull this off?
That's what I love about the campaign-- they're going after EVERYONE! This is greed that is good-- Obama is greedy in that he wants as close to that 100% participation rate as possible.

13. They called up the game providers and bought some space?
Many online games and games requiring online connections these days use ingame ads as a form of financing - or extra profiteering as it might be viewed.

It should be an obvious move. But apparently only to one of the campaigns. McCains people and the man himself seem to have no clue about the possibilities of todays technology.

15. Yeah I realize that but it requires a great deal of coordination most likely
Unless there is some sort of consortium that sells ad space for these games that the game companies are a member of, the campaign most likely had to make arrangements with each and every game company. It's a little less regulated than the more traditional ad markets too so I'm also assuming that it's harder to arrange for in some cases to advertise on online games.

But you're right that Obama's campaign has been such an illustration of how well he's grasped future and present technologies and used them to his advantage. McCain is just so sadly left behind.

20. It's common practice. Did you see the State Farm ads? It's just what is done now.
Obama's campaign just knows where to go to reach all voters, specifically how to get to the younger ones.

Just the other day my son was singing an old old song and I wondered how he knew all the words....it was from the music on some video game he plays. You can't imagine how many people he's reaching with these ads! Great move!

As opposed to McCain, who has a Jack Thompson-lite attitude towards videogames, no doubt because of his friendship w/Lieberman

the least

McCain is still trying to learn how to get online and use email. Obama has in game advertising, his own satellite TV station and commercials that will auto tune you to that station from any other station if you press Select during it.

(I hope I explained that properly)

anyways.. it is clear Obama is 2 generations ahead of McCain when it comes to modern tech.

Edit to add. page 8 is my favorite
