Interesting that the five youngest states in the country are also among the REDDEST: |
|
On average, according to 2004 polling, the states with the youngest average age are all Republican strongholds:
#46 Arizona: 34.1 #47 Georgia: 34 #48 Alaska: 33.4 #49 Texas: 32.9 #50 Utah: 28
Compare this to the five OLDEST states, and you get a much different answer:
#1 Maine: 40.7 #2 Vermont: 40.4 #3 West Virginia: 40.3 #4 Montana: 39.6 #5 Florida: 39.3
Two solid blue states and one leaning Obama. Hmmmm...

1. It would be more interesting to see an age breakup. Mean age... |

could mean a lot of things.

I thought you were referring to which states joined the union earliest and latest.

6. You are right. I thought that "oldest" state meant the first in the union. |
|
The reference was to the average age of the people who live there...

8. Poorly worded topic... |
|
The creator is referring to the mean (or median..."average" is not especially clear) age of the states. It's funny to see how barbaric and reactionary Utah is given the state's youthfulness. Praying to Mormo must make you pretty ignorant.

15. Eh, you can't judge people for having as many kids as they want |

That's what reproductive freedom is.
I only really only have a problem when you have extreme cases of families with 19 or 20 kids. Just because I really don't think you can give 20 different kids the attention they need. But that's not common.
