In Scranton Today, at a Palin Rally, Yet Another Person Yelled Out From the Crowd, “Kill Him!

The Times-Tribune, a Pennsylvania newspaper, reports that, once again, a man attending a Palin rally, shouted out from among the crowd—”kill him”—referring to Obama:

Chris Hackett addressed the increasingly feisty crowd as they await the arrival of Gov. Palin.

Each time the Republican candidate for the seat in the 10th Congressional District mentioned Barack Obama the crowd booed loudly.

One man screamed “kill him!”

Supporters have been noted shouting “kill him,” “terrorist,” “off with his head” and other equally incendiary terms about Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.

Next year we need to start a RW terrorist watch list.

1. I wish there was a news report about that person being arrested.
Perhaps the message might get through.

4. So, what is the Secret Service doing about the asshole who yelled that?
It seems to me that if a few of those Pubbie assholes got arrested for making threats like that, the rally got shut down and the asshole got hauled out in cuffs, IMO, that kind of out of line bullshit would end.

7. They should put that guy in handcuffs
and Palin should try being a human and denounce it as dangerous and unpatriotic.

13. Palin is dangerous and unpatriotic....
I won't say she is not human, but she sure has a pretty far flung ability to ignore people wanting to kill other people. Not exactly the paragon of humanity, this.

20. The one created by Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan and Karl Rove
In Spain, during the fascist dictatorship of Francisco Franco, they
used to call it "la España negra," and they were referring to the tone
of the mood of the country, not to race or religion (black is commonly
associated with the Catholic Church, and not negatively in that sense).

The dark mood that has taken hold in America since the train wreck of
Cheneybush has its direct lineage in Richard Nixon's dirty tricks,
Reagan's uncompromising right-wing policies, and Cheneybush's not-
so-subtle moves toward totalitarianism. We are not so very removed
from "Kill a Commie for Christ," and some of these people are truly
so far indoctrinated by National Hate Radio that they really believe
that Obama is Osama misspelled. The McCain/Palin campaign is not stupid:
they see their numbers dwindling, and figure they have nothing left to
lose by letting these people to froth at the mouth in public, and maybe
garner a few supporters along the way, sort of like a political feeding frenzy.

They will not be brought back to reality at once, but if the mood of the country
changes for the better, and the economy returns to a semblance of normalcy,
well, remember the old admonition from yours truly, namely that "full bellies
tend not to start fights." They can be whipped into it (Cheneybush into Iraq,
following guidelines set out by Hitler, as recounted by Hermann Göring), but
it's not the natural state of things. Most of the frothing at the mouth will
subside when the cause for it is shown to be a fraud. Those who insist on acting
crazy, in spite of their lot improving, are those who will jump off a building,
convinced that if God doesn't intend for them to die, they will sprout wings
ten feet into their fall. That's the 23% we'll never reach anyway.

I was getting scared that the people afraid of "race-baiting" would want to put stories like this to rest. We need to shine a light on racism as much as we get.

I think that there are folks who don't understand what it is like for people of color. These threats are not only serious for Mr. Obama; they are serious for anyone who supports Mr. Obama as well as people of color. If we don't keep reporting incidents like this, then it harms all of us--even those who want to put their fingers in their ears and complain about "too much race" in the news.

And about the "Bradley Effect": I've been saying all along that this is a vote of courage. Well, I will see whether some people belonging to the dominant culture have the courage to vote their conscience this election. This will be a test of true character.

Especially with an Obama administration, those right-wing murderers will end up sitting behind bars under the very Patriot Act they so gleefully supported during the Bush regime, when they were not targeted as menaces.

23. WHERE IS THE MUCH VAUNTED SECRET SERVICE DURING ALL OF THIS???
If anyone were to threaten McCain I'm sure swift action would be taken. The Secret Service's silence and inaction on this speaks volumes. These threats at McCain/Palin "rallies" MUST be well known by now. Why isn't The Secret Service conducting surveillance at these rallies and actively pursuing the people who continue to make these threats?
