Unbelievable! Look what's the top headline on MSN.com!!!

Isn't it nice to have Newsweek and Microsoft telling Roman Catholics it's their religious duty to vote for McCain/Palin???

(And to think I was complaining about CNN pushing the "Bradley effect"...)

5. I can only speak for one Catholic, me, and we pay little or no
attention to this stuff or to the Pope Ratz. How many couples do you see with the 8-9 kids these days? Catholics will back Obama for all of the right reasons.

6. Don't worry about the Catholics...they have found their own minds
after years of deception and disappointment. I am one, or was one, and I'll tell you, most of the thinking Catholics that I know are so pissed off at the Church that they pay no attention to it whatsoever.

I wonder what his poll numbers would be if his anti-choice position were better known.

9. My church pulled that shit with Kerry in 2004
I'm Catholic, and there is an "intentions" portion of the Mass (prayers offered up as a church, and prayers offered up as individuals).

The prayer repeated throughout the 2004 election was to "give voters the wisdom to vote for a candidate who respects the rights of the unborn."

It didn't matter that Kerry was "pro choice." My Catholic friends believed he was "pro abortion."

So yes, it is a matter for concern. Educated Christians know who (and what) they are voting for.

The rest do not.

And while I acknowledge that there are some on DU who find "Educated Christians" to be an oxymoron, I also give thanks daily for not giving a flying fuck about what anyone thinks of me and my faith.

14. One-issue voters that vote Repug solely b/c of the abortion issue
Really ought to take a step back and ask just what the Repugs have ever done for them on this issue. I mean, from January 2003 to January 2007, they had a Repug President, a Repug House, and a Repug Senate... and how exactly did anything substantially change in this country regarding the legality of abortion?

15. "Should Catholics back Pro-Pedophile Priests"??
No... :eyes:

Catholics are smart enough to realize that with the church, it's just do what you think is correct overall.. abortion is bad - so are uneccesary wars and poverty and not helping your neighbor.

Democrats can legally be for allowing abortion, while pushing to help increase adoptions. They do it all of the time!

22. Yuck. Who cares what Catholics think? Sorry to offend, but I am SO TIRED of this crap!!
Screw the Catholic Church - if you think you need to follow what some priest says, and not think for yourself, maybe you'd also be happy under Shar'ia law? I am so bloody sick of religious bullshit being shoved down my throat, and one-issue Catholic voters electing morons!!!

23. Many of us Catholics which includes more than a few Priests and Bishops BELIEVE
that an Obama Presidency would LOWER the number of abortions because it would provide teens and young women with the education, support ... and yes, family planning options which, albeit far from ideal from a HARD Catholic stance would NO DOUBT lower the "crisis states" tempting the option for Abortion.

Many more "open-minded" (liberal) Priests have realized that there's the Catholic Hierarchy and then, there's The Real World.
