Kerry, who has two months to overcome any Bush convention bounce, was spirited and enthusiastic at the rally, in contrast to characterizations of the candidate being stiff on the campaign trail.
The senator said the Democratic convention lacked the hostile nature of the Republican convention, but he made it clear he's not backing away from the fight.
"This president will say anything, do anything to avoid talking about the real problems in America and to get re-elected," Kerry said.
Job losses was a main theme of Kerry's front porch discussion and his rally speech downtown. He said Bush promised 260,000 new jobs in Ohio and instead the state lost 230,000 jobs. He also spoke about the loss of health and pension benefits. >
