Vogler had also negotiated Iranian sponsorship for AIP as part of his efforts to build support at the United Nations. In 1993, Vogler died during an attempt to buy illegal explosives (C4). Let's have Joe speak for himself... as only Joe can do:

Todd & Sarah Palin have had ties to AIP going back at least to the early 1990s, according to AIP sources. They helped get her elected as Mayor, coordinated policy initiatives with her even as Governor, and Todd was a card carrying member of AIP for 7 years until 2002. They both attended AIP Conventions. AIP initially claimed that Sarah Palin was a member as well, but later denied this to be the case. Nonetheless, Palin has maintained relationships with AIP and even sent them a nice video presentation for a recent state Convention.
