All I can say is "Wow."
I am so happy with Obama as our candidate. He's a brilliant man- and I don't use that term lightly- and his is probably the best campaign I've ever seen.
Election day is going to be a day of true joy for the United States. Change is coming.

2. Me too. I've never been so happy or excited to vote for a Democrat for pres. |
|
Mondale -- Well, I was excited only because that was my first presidential election.
Dukakis -- Meh. I did vote for him, of course.
Clinton -- Well, I liked Clinton enough at first and went to his Inauguration.
'96 -- I actually think I voted for Nader that time because I lived in a safe "state" that didn't have any electoral votes (DC) and I was disgusted by some of Clinton's triangulation at that point (NAFTA, etc.)
Gore -- I wasn't thrilled with Gore in 2000, but did ardently want him to beat Bush and of course voted for him. I would have been thrilled to vote for the man he morphed into, though.
Kerry -- Well, I admired a lot of what he did, but I didn't "love" him as a candidate. We donated, had the yard sign, etc.
Obama -- Man. I am over the moon. :loveya:

3. I haven't been this "into" a candidate since McGovern. |
|
And really, Obama is a far better candidate. It was just that McGovern was a progressive with a capital P and he was the young people's candidate, which I certainly was then. It felt like we were taking control. His crushing defeat, due to the Eagleton fiasco and right-wing fear-mongering was hard to come back from. I have always voted for the Democrat of course, but not with any real enthusiasm.
This time, we have a candidate who has the right ideas, but also the political smarts to get elected, and to achieve something once he is in office.
