29. Yeah! Also, Todd claims WV is "only LEANS McCain" because Obama's "getting close in a couple polls"
when the reality is Obama is BEATING McCain there according to the latest polls!

20. Seriously, what is up with Todd and Gregory
it's one thing to have a "preference" but these two are not making any sense at this point.

Did they make early bets on InTrade in order to save the gargantuan mortgages on their Georgetown townhomes, or something?????????

22. Gregory pulled out two polls from September to discuss Virginia and North Carolina
Showing Obama behind in both while talking to Jim Webb and a Republican.

28. Yeah, I read that yesterday on DU
but the way they are acting is just so over the top, in the tank OBVIOUS that they don't want Obama in the position he is in right now.

I was attributing it to wanting to keep ratings up, but I'm not even buying my own rationalization anymore....I mean are they going to stay in denial on Election Night after it's obvious Obama has won.

It's just plain strange to me.

4. EVERY TIME a poll shows Obama with a large lead, Chuck Todd says he doesn't really believe
it's as big a lead as the poll says. :eyes:

13. I don't believe the lead is this big, either
But even if it's only half as big (which is an underestimate), it's still quite large.

17. He said it is more like a 4% lead.......

The look on his face and the tenor of his voice was priceless.

He got schooled this morning by James Cronwell the actor this morning too
for being so right wing.

31. Not much of a field
Only a few challengers and once Sham broke down in the middle of the race it was like Secretariat was running against air. Awesome performance but the margin of victory has always been overstated.

For one thing, there's zero chance he actually won by 31 lengths. The clock time to the place horse is 4.73 seconds. Horses don't run 31 lengths in 4.73 seconds, particularly young 3 year olds at the end of a mile and a half. It was a chart that was sloppily thrown together and frankly it's laughable.

Secretariat ran the final quarter mile in 25 seconds, very good but not exceptional. The chart says he led by 20 lengths before that final quarter but increased it to 31 at the finish. Yet somehow they want us to believe those horses who were losing 11 lengths to Secretariat at the end of the race miraculously found jet fuel once Secretariat crossed the finish line, and flashed 31 lengths in 4.73 seconds. It would be the equivalent of asserting Obama will win Indiana but lose California.

The track was also freakishly fast, like a freeway, with a track record set in the immediately preceding race.

Sorry for the extended detour, but that '73 Belmont mythology is a pet peeve of mine.

27. What's with Chuck Todd lately?
Is he trying to make up with his trash talk fest with Peggy Noonan and Mike Murphy? I mean...it's not even just that he doesn't believe certain polls, which is fine I guess, but he seems downright UPSET by some of them lately.
