Newsweek gave Kerry 10 pt lead/Zogby 5 pts after DNC Convention speech
Edited on Sat Sep-04-04 03:13 PM by XanthaS
Look here, in the Newsweek poll, overall Kerry was up 7 pts over * after the convention, and up 10 pts in polls taken just after Kerry's speech.

Unfortunately, I don't see that Time magazine did a similar poll for the DNC, but Zogby gave Kerry a 5 pt lead right after the convention.

That's just for perspective, people.

Now, I don't recall these polls being touted a lot in the media, and I don't recall the GOP acting too publicly concerned about the polls.

Before we start screaming that our convention was a flop compared to the RNC, calm down and take a look at reality.

(edited for misspelling)

8. Some of them want us to lose, and others watch too much CNN...
If CNN had reported the Newsweek numbers for Kerry, we would have heard quite a bit about a post-convention bounce.

3. I was wondering about that Newsweek poll in July
I also wonder what the one day results were for Kerry (on the night of his speech). I seem to remember he had a big one-day bounce in the Newsweek poll.

4. I remember that
I'm glad you brought that up again. People HAD to of known that it wouldn't last and like all bounces it would fall.

9. Will this bounce fall?
Do you think the Bush bounce will fall? I did see Zogby's analysis. That Bush, like a rubber ball got a big bounce to begin with and each successive bounce was smaller than the last. So, this one should be smaller than the previous bounces. I hope that he falls hard. on this one.

11. Bush* is only up by 2 in the Zogby poll, w/ a 3 pt bounce...
that's not too huge. Kerry received a bigger post-convention lead than Bush* in that poll, which placed Kerry 5 points ahead.

10. Jesus Christ folks!
These are the cheapset, most slanted polls they can do. Both the Newsweek and Time polls have pugs outnumbering dems 5 to 4! Nither of these half-assed organizations is going to pony up the $15K it takes to do a valid poll. And BTW, does anyone have any memory left from the 2000 race? Rove will start harping about how it's "unevitable" the country wants the chimp, after all, look at the polls,. What a load of bullshit! This is the same crap these lying shits have been pulling for four year!

12. CNN never pushed the Newsweek poll after the DNC Convention...
I'm sure that was on purpose. They were able to push the "no bounce for Kerry" meme.

Let's not fall for Rove's new "Bush got a huge bounce where Kerry got none" meme.

13. And the carpers would have us change course, take the low road
Where did our integrity go? We need to stand firm for the things we believe in. We don't put Vietnam at the top of our agenda, they do. We haven't run a campaign parsing Bush's words, they have. We don't use our politics to divide Americans, they do. We need to remember what we stand for and stand firm. Kerry rocks!

14. We have a record to attack, whereas the GOP is attacking Kerry personally
All we need to do is attack the record of the Bush* administration. We don't need to play nasty and personal like Karl Rove. We have enough ammunition to use.
