What Was With McCain's Facial Expressions??
It was really creepy. Whenever Obama was talking, his eyes bugged out and he had a weird tight little smile.

Not to mention the jaw grinding, the strange gutteral noises, or any one of a number of other unnerving mannerisms.

This was new. I didn't notice it in the first two debates. And I suspect it strongly influenced the viewer perception. Based on that alone, I suspect Obama may get more movement from this debate than eithr of the others.

12. That struck me too
McSame seemed much more emotional and inflammatory this time than he had in the last two debates. Like the whole business about investigating Obama's terrorist links and him being part of some radical pro-abortion faction. He went clean off the deep end and was all but foaming at the mouth tonight. I'm curious whether it's just a reflection of the fact that he's desperate, or if he's trying to pull a Rovian gay-marriage-style boogey man out of the hat at the last minute in the hope of inflaming wedge issues.

2. He reminds me of an albino lizard.
He was indeed creepy. I noticed his weird expressions when Obama was talking, as if he was trying not to bite him.

6. The split screen was used more on all the networks this evening. The contrast was stunning.
McInsane was simply insane looking while Obama smiled on occasion and seemed unruffled.

30. Yeah, his laughing at his own jokes is weird.
He does it all the time, and that makes him come off as unbalanced. It also shows a profound lack of connection with other people. I crack jokes and say goofball stuff all the time, and I pay close attention to which things go over and which don't. My style of humor is more deadpan, I guess, so I almost never laugh directly at anything I've said. Now, if someone else in the group riffs on what I say, then I'll laugh at THAT.

But it's just kind of "off" socially to attempt a witticism and then laugh at it before anyone else does.

I see nothing wrong with that. In fact, there is no better compliment to a chef that for a customer to react this way to a meal.

20. You didn't notice it in the first two debates because it wasn't as bad then.
Tonight McCranky looked ready to jump across the table and throttle Obama. He was ANGRY. His tight little smile, jaw grinding, etc., were evidence to me of a barely contained fury.

Obama, in contrast, got annoyed with McCain a few times, but he never was acted like he was about to lose control. He was as calm as rational as ever.

21. Loved McLame's gesticulations after Obama's closing remarks
Followed by his getting lost on stage and lots of other bush-like ineptitude. You just have to watch that final minute again for pure comedy gold!

I'm sure there were people who turned away from the TV as soon as the debate ended and missed McCain's weird and goofy dancing around.
