Just had lunch with Thom Hartmann and his wife.
Really nice guy. He was surprisingly soft-spoken, but I am betting he was tired after just getting done with his radio show a half hour earlier. Apparently his wife does the scheduling and acts as his manager of sorts, and she was great to meet as well. Thom seemed so out of in some ways it was pretty amusing...he talked about how he was apparently about to head down to L.A. to do a debate alongside Stephanie Miller against two conservative radio hosts, but he didn't know who they were and didn't seem to care all that much. His wife was the one on top of things.

The most interesting tidbit I took from the meeting was that he has absolutely no interest in interviewing Obama at this point, because he doesn't believe in 'bullshit' interviews (he specifically said he'd leave the 'kiss-up' interviews to Ed Schultz ) and he would have to challenge Obama if he didn't like any of Obama's answers. The thing is, he doesn't want to do that before an election as important as this.

The only drawback is I now feel even dumber having listened to him speak on everything from the history of smears in presidential politics to FDR to Eisenhower to Clinton (let's just say Thom isn't a big fan of Bill's policies). The guy is a walking encyclopedia/computer.

Anyway, it was a great experience meeting him...I only wish I could have gotten a picture or something.
