Do the members of the DU represent "Mainstream America"?
Whatever the hell that means.

2. I'm with Michael Moore that the majority of the people in this country |
|
are liberal, not right wingers. Most people want clean drinking water, clean air, no filth dumped in streams, money spent on things such as national parks, courts that protect minority rights, true compassion for those less fortunate.....
and that's me. Mainstream America.

3. The answer is "no", but NOT because of being "too liberal". |
|
The BIGGEST difference between DU and "mainstream America" is that we are people who are extremely engaged in politics, while most of America pays little attention.
The difference is between "well-informed" and "uninformed" -- as well as "misinformed". NOT "liberal" or otherwise.

4. I voted no, too liberal for this reason. |

I agree with the poster who said that most Americans tend to agree that we need clean water, etc. Most of them aren't activists, like many on DU are. We're the protestors. We're the people that attend rallies. Most Americans, whether they agree with us, or they agree with the freepers, don't.
So, we're not mainstream, "whatever the hell that means." I agree with you on that assessment, Nation.
