We can forgive...heal...and unite as ONE AMERICA!
Watching McCain and Obama at the Al Smith Dinner tonight I found myself really enjoying both. So, right brain, left brain...no matter what I said and what I feel and what I choose, deep in my heart I pray for reconciliation-- whoever wins, though I deeply feel one way or another-- so that we may reunite as a people to, in the next four years, bring comfort and hope not only to our own but also to the needy of mankind looking, STILL TO THIS day, to this pioneer nation that many others and myself crawled half-way around the world to reach, believing it to be THE HOMELAND OF DEMOCRACY. We are here because no other land so tortuously revives itself from its own falls to stand again, straight and proud, model to us all.

John McCain and I have had the better of our days of our lives long ago. Obama's best days may well still lie ahead. We look on youth with envy, but never so much as not to delight in it as we see it in others and remember our own....In the end it shall all work itself out and America shall prevail so long as we all remember that we are of two minds, not each of a single rigid one, and that we live challenged by the task to bring the two together in harmony with ourselves and, harder as it may be, with others. I impatiently await Nov. 5th so we can all proceed to unite in saving our little planet from the violent universe in which we precariously travel bound to our planetary system. Let's not forget how small we are and let us not take the Lord's name in vain by assuming that He helps me personally smite those whom I despise. The rage I feel toward Bush, and those I combat wherever in the world where we are self-designated "enemies," I do pray for redemption for both McCain and myself, meddled into the national unity that we aLL, in the end, seek. In remembering that God is the God of the whole universe, I force both sides of my brain to recall that He told us all: DO ONTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE THEM DO ONTO YOU....So, God's will be done, but when we combine our God given talents for a common cause we can be sure, at the very least, that we can overcome the imbecility we all exhibit in preceding rage toward and combat with each other our fellow human beings. By this November, one way or another, let unity of purpose prevail as we put our shoulders to the wheel to TOGETHER pull America out of the ditch and our planet out of the pollution into which we humans have driven it. God bless whatever holds us all compassionately together.

Somehow I doubt the majority of Americans are out for revenge like we are...
and something tells me Obama won't be out for revenge either.

3. I predict riots in the streets from the ultra right wing fringe.

Sorry.

I think they're getting whipped up into a frenzy and it will erupt in violence in several cities.

I hope I'm wrong.

9. So racist whites are going to riot in the cities?
Really? Which cities? Which hoods are they coming into that they think they can leave alive?

divisive campaigns are a memory, this country will be able to be more united.
The RW repukes wanted the divisiveness. It was the core of their power. Once they are gone....hopefully most of the anger and hate will go with them.

Of course this does not mean that those responsible for the worst of the past 8 years should not be held accountable for the damage they have done to this country...psychologically, financially, physically, and emotionally.

5. You know what I hate about religious people the most?
The fact that they make ME intolerant - I tolerate a whole lot, but I just can't tolerate ignorant, self absorbent, hard-headed, "I'm right and you're wrong", it's my way or no way religious people. Sorry, I just can't.

6. I have little desire for revenge as such
but the Republicans and those that support them damn well have to be accountable and accept their philosophies and policies are deeply flawed.

Its hard to move on with some fools dragging you backwards, kicking and screaming the whole way.

The Foreign policy is dangerous and expensive, the politics are divisive and destructive, the societal policies are draconian, theocratic, and dehumanizing, and the economics is nothing but a bumpy road to fascism. They oppose education and enlightenment. Thoughtfulness is scoffed at. They appreciate only rat like shrewdness, avarice for power, mean spirited hatefulness with a smile, and lockstep slavery to failed ideas.

I'm all for being cool but we can't afford to continue without this people taking stock in what they want to do and worse what they'll do to get it.
I think we'll have to be pretty tough with them and at minimum away from the big kids table in a substantive way.
Obama is gracious. I suspect he will aid greatly in reconstituting a much more sane and truly "Country First" Republican/Conservative party by putting thoughtful Republicans of actual character in the only real positions of power for GOP for a time.
I think real conservatives in the future may continue to disagree with Obama but I think they will respect him and probably will be thankful for helping them be what they are supposed to be.

7. And come
tomorrow, out on the campaign trail, Barack Obama will just be someone who pals around with terrorists and folks will be reminded of that at every McCain/Palin rally and by the likes of Joe Lieberman.

Look, tonight was fun to watch but I bought none of it. Perhaps it's just me, who knows. But I can't forget nor will I forget 2000 and 2004 where if things had been fair, our country might not be in the shape it's in right now.

So forgive me for not feeling all warm and cuddly after tonights performance.

I don't like McCain and I don't trust McCain.

8. DREAM ON. . .
Dream Away!!

We have purchased extra guns--semi automatic weapons. Extra ammo too.

I have always been an avocate that liberals MUST be ARMED. Hope you people listened!!! Really hope so!!

We also have survival supplies. All hell is going to break loose. If you people aren't able to live "off the grid" and self-sufficiently, bend over backwards and kiss your butts goodbye.

12. You all have a point, but we will need to unite all around Obama
My 90 years old mother used to scream at me that I was too young in 1946 to appreciate the Communist takeover of my country but she sees it all over again with the Obama campaign. IT'S NOT THAT SHE'S GAGA, IT'S THAT A LOT OF OLDER AMERICANS-- NATIVE OR NATURALIZED-- BECAUSE THEY HAVE NEVER REGAINED THEIR BALANCE SINCE 9/11 HALLUCINATE OBAMA AS A BLACK DEVIL THAT IS *NOT* FOR AMERICA.It is a pathologic perspective emanating from a chronic stress of helpless confusion that never subsided since that day. As they realized what Bush is, they grasped for a straw, McCain/Palin.

That kind of SICK mentality is NOT a reaction to Obama but to how fast the world is destabilizing around them. MILLIONS-- YES, MILLIONS-- of Americans over 50 were scared to death of unseen, unheard, un-materialized and unimagined demons. 9/11 scared them to madness. The Rove Republicans and the neocons plied millions of dollars and 8 years of the power for image making of the presidency to perpetuate their disorientation from fear to hate. DEFENSIVELY THESE DESTABILIZED PEOPLE LET THEIR IMAGINATION FOLLOW THEIR EXPLODING EMOTIONS AND FEARS OF THINGS THEY CAN'T EVEN REMEMBER WHAT THEY ARE MAKE THEM THE MICE THAT FOLLOWED THE PIED PIPER ROVE TO THE BUSH RIVER.

McCain just wanted to be president to be president. And to that end he hired all the demons that derived from the head of devil Rove to scare these people against Obama. With Obama as a source of fear, McCain figured, these herds stampeding will have nowhere to go but to him. Without a program, without even a coherent speech, he acted as if he were the very thing he hates most: AN EVANGELICAL PREACHER who gathers the frantic stampeding herd and corals them in his pen. THAT'S WHY HE IS SO WEIRD WHEN HE TALKS, SAYING NOTHING OF SUBSTANCE, JUST "I KNOW HOW TO....YOU CAN TRUST ONLY ME TO....BELEIVE ME, ONLY I HAVE A PLAN...." He chose Palin as a gimmick, one that was dumb enough and ambitious enough to blindly play this reckless game to the end. Finally, though, after the third debate, McCain realized, just as he realized when he betrayed his fellow POWs for a bit of comfort, that he leaves an indelible record. And then-- AS HE DID IN HIS PERSECUTION OF THE MIA FAMILIES IN THE 1980s AND THE VIETNAMESE IN THE 1970s-- he thought he should bomb them savagely before they shoot him down. He thought Rove-politics was a kind of electoral super aircraft that could zoom in, kill, kill, kill and then get out before the flack and counter-missiles get him.

But, as ever before, when the orgasm of the flight was over, McCain MUST have realized what a record of putridness he leaves behind. Just as he realized that a fly-boy who gets shot down can't stand up to a boots on the ground guy who fought Vietnam in the jungle and the red clay so he devised the "can't raise my arms because of war injuries " stunt, he realized that the election is a wash. So now he is facing his own soul. NOW THE IDEAL MCCAIN WITH NOTHING TO LOSE, AS IN 2000, IS STRUGGLING TO COME BACK--THE SAME ONE EVENTUALLY TRIED TO MAKE AMENDS FOR THE HANOI HILTON BETRAYAL. AND SOON HE WILL REALIZE HIS OWN COUNTENANCE TO THE CRIMINAL RACIST BIGOT CAMPAIGN "EXPERTS" FROM ROVE THAT HE HIRED TO EXPLOIT THE STAMPEDING FEAR OF SOME CONFUSED MIDDLE AGED AMERICANS NOT ONLY FAILED BUT ALSO WREAKED HAVOC ON AMERICA. GUILT HIT HIM WHEN HE CAME FACE TO FACE WITH A WOMAN SO STRESSED THAT SHE COULD ONLY ARTICULATE HER FEAR OF OBAMA AS "HE'S AN ARAB." HE REALIZED THAT THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH STAMPEDING HERDS FOR HIM TO WIN AND, DYING OF MELANOMA, HE WILL WANT TO MAKE AMENDS. HE WILL WANT TO CLEANSE HIS SOUL. HE WILL BE TORTURED BY GUILT.

Lucky for McCain that the man who will beat him is Obama....a man who learned from his own "MIXED" neither/nor condition by birth that YOU CAN'T SURVIVE WITH OPPOSITES BATTLING WITHIN YOU, YOU MUST BRING THEM TO ACCORD, ACCOMMODATION AND RECONCILIATION....And so Obama is determined to bring America's right and left to a point of accord so they can save America through unity. THAT'S WHY HE DROVE US ALL CRAZY BY NEVER HITTING BACK, TURNING THE OTHER CHEEK AS IF HE REALLY WERE BORN IN A MANGER. McCain will be reached out to by President-elect Obama and McCain will see that as his salvation, a chance to undo the harm he opportunistically did and to do some good before he dies. He will be needed to quell the geriatric stampede that Bush whipped along since 9/11. These people can be steered to good just as well as Rove steered them to bad. McCain will be a great help to Obama's goal of national unity to overcome.

When I came to America I lived in Harlem and many of the men I met there kind of adopted me. And they then showed me their greatest pride: their discharge papers from military service in Korea, the first war where black fighting men were treated as equals. Can you imagine what power of forgiveness, what discipline of pride that takes? I see that same determination to serve, not to seize power and revenge in Obama. McCain does too...and I'm sure he, McCain, can't wait for his defeat to come so he can start to contribute to his own redemption. MCCAIN KNOWS THAT OBAMA IS A MAN TOO DISCIPLINED, TOO FORWARD LOOKING, TOO DEVOTED TO THE FUTURE TO JUST WANT TO GET EVEN. So we must-- now that McCain's fear-->hate campaign failed-- follow the Obama example and not get defeated by the negativity through which we win. We must fight to win, but as we celebrate victory, we must reach out-- as Obama does-- to the people who thrashed him, the people who said: I DON'T WANT A NIG-ER IN THE *WHITE* HOUSE. Obama's very statement about guns and religion that the Rovian devils exploited was his promise of understanding and forgiveness when read in full.

So fight hard to win...don't let the dirty tricks of cowards who never understood the responsibility that comes with power-- all those Rovian he/shes-- defeat Obama. But after you win, be gracious victors. Raise them out of their own self-soiling, help cleanse them through understanding and forgiveness and a chance to earn respect. I saw in his speech today at the Al Smith Dinner that McCain felt calm in the pit of his stomach as he spoke well of our next president, Obama. I can feel that McCain is reconciling himself to the prospects for honor AFTER defeat through cooperation rather than obstruction...He'll then be a real maverick!

And just as Obama will help McCain save McCain, we must follow that example to help save our fellow Americans from their current Rovian cattle drive as stampeding herds. THAT'S WHY CONGRESS MUST LAY BARE THE FACTS AS TO HOW WE WERE ALL TURNED INTO A CATTLE DRIVE AFTER 9/11. THAT'S WHY, AFTER THEY SEE THE FACTS FOR THEMSELVES, WE MUST GIVE A HAND UP TO OUR FELLOW AMERICANS SO THEY DON'T FEEL LIKE THEY HAVE BEEN DRIVEN TO THE STOCK YARD BY BUSH BUT RATHER ARE AMONG THEIR FELLOW AMERICANS WHO WANT THEM BACK IN THE RANKS OF THE THINKING HUMANS WHO WILL PLY THEIR TALENTS AND ABILITIES TO SAVE AMERICA FOR OUR GRANDKIDS AND KIDS.

To rule Obama wants and needs unity. Let us serve our President-elect with an open heart to our fellow Americans, not transfixing with their raving appearance while driven by the Rovian political cowboys.

BUT UNTIL THEN STAY ON TRACK, COOL AND CALM LIKE OBAMA, SPREADING THE WORD DOOR TO DOOR OUT OF CARING, NOT AVARICE FOR REVENGE AND POWER. WE MUST BE LIKE MANDELA,SEEKING RECONCILIATION THROUGH TRUTH TELLING, SO OBAMA CAN LEAD OUR NATION OUT OF DARKNESS. THAT WILL REQUIRE THE SAME HUMILITY, KINDNESS AND DISCIPLINE TO UNITY THAT OBAMA HAS SHOWN THROUGH THIS LONG, LONG STRUGGLE TO THE PRESIDENCY.

THERE IS NO DOUBT WE WILL PREVAIL IN NOVEMBER; THE REAL QUESTION IS IF WE PREVAIL AFTERWARD INTO JANUARY AND BEYOND. THAT WILL REQUIRE OBAMA-LIKE FORGIVING KINDNESS AND PRIDE IN THE VERY PEOPLE THAT SPAT ON HIM-- JUST LIKE THE HARLEM BLACKS WHO NEVER KNEW CIVIL RIGHTS EXCEPT IN THE FROZEN FOXHOLES OF KOREA. THAT IS THE OBAMA WE ARE ELECTING, THAT SHOULD BE THE EXAMPLE FOR ALL OF US WHO VOTE FOR HIM.
